Yeah, a rename-or-not crowner would be a good idea here. Also, [up][up] has a good point that this is a line-of-dialog title (and those are discouraged in general, Eddie doesn't need to point out each particular one).

While I think this is a terribad name, the growth rate strikes me as good enough to let it stay.

I don't think renaming should be up for a vote.

I'm of two minds: 1.}The name seems to be working for whatever reason but 2.) the purposed replacements do sound better than the current one.

And call him George should remain as a redirect or their should be a note somewhere that it was the former name if it is changed. At least the title is not wrong, even if not immediately indicative. I remember those Looney Toons well, they lead me to read the book they were parodying.

[up]Standard procedure for renaming is to leave a note in two places, the Renamed Tropes page and the thread somewhere. The old title is usually made into a redirect, too.

Hey, I think we should add a "Playing With" to this trope. What do you guys think?

The way I understand it — which, of course, might be completely wrong — you can just go ahead and launch one. The Playing With Wiki and Playing With Wiki Template give more details.

Should we try to get some more votes, or simply accept that the answer to the renaming crowner is "no"?

When the ratio is that close, it's up to a mod to decide if we will proceed with actions on the crowner or not.

2:1 ratio needed for a rename. Crowner doesn't have consensus.

Eh...I'm still not seeing a need for any action more drastic than adding redirects. The current name doesn't seem to be causing any problems...if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

"I like this other name better" isn't a reason to rename.

Apparently, Hug Em To Pieces, Love Em To Death and Smothered In Affection are all redirects. Do we need more of them or are we done?

The current name doesn't seem to be causing any problems...
It may be causing some that aren't immediately obvious, though. Things like underuse * can be hard to prove.

[up] Its numbers are healthy enough, so I don't see cause for concern. Searchable redirects and crosswicking are usually sufficient to alleviate the "people don't know it exists" problem.

Crowner's been up for nearly a month and no consensus. I think we're done here.
