I like.
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)Well, the idea's been floating out there for a couple of days, and what little feedback there's been for it has been positive, I added Smothered In Affection as a redirect.
I was hoping for a little more discussion.
This space for rent. Cost: your soul. That name would work much better.
Works for me, although I emphatically do get the reference in And Call Him "George", I agree that it's a poor title.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Well, I can get behind renaming this if people think it's a good idea (that's why I started this thread in the first place), but I'll point out that we're getting a non-trivial number of inbounds from the current name.
This space for rent. Cost: your soul.Well, we can add the redirect; that's easy. A rename seems a lot less likely given the pervasiveness of the Trope Namer in Western culture... although Looney Tunes is slowly and sadly getting dated.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"...You're aware that Looney Tunes is not the Trope Namer correct? The Trope Namer is Of Mice And Men, Looney Tunes just ran with it.
Fight smart, not fair. For what it's worth, I didn't get either reference (despite me being very familiar with Looney Tunes) and this fails the Guess The Trope test for me.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! This, and I've seen Looney Tunes and read Of Mice And Men.
Oh, it's undoubtedly a terrible name. For the record, I first ran into the characters on Looney Tunes (which I suspect the vast majority of people will).
Fight smart, not fair. The title is awful. This really needs a rename.
That said, Smothered In Affection doesn't seem much better, since smothering isn't the only means by which affection is physically harmful. Let's keep looking for alternate titles.
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartOoh, that seems like a good one.
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartWhile the Looney Tune is referencing Of Mice and Men, I don't think Of Mice and Men actually has anything to do with this trope name.
Lennie never says anything about calling his pets George in Of Mice And Men (in fact George is the one who looks after Lennie).
"Hug Em To Pieces" is one name I can definitely get behind. Just those four words give me the mental image of Elmyra from Tiny Toon Adventures with poor Furrball, which is the trope in a nutshell.
Accidental mistakes are forgivable, intentional ones are not.Roxor's idea sounds good. Its basically what most of the classic "pet lovers/killers" say in these situations anywho.
Well said.

"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartHug Em To Pieces and Smothered In Affection are both fine. I think Love Em To Death would also work.
Should we set up a crowner?
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartNah, we don't need a crowner to add redirects. Redirects Are Free. If we've got enough good ones, we can just redirect away and then we should be done.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Looking at the usage numbers, I'm inclined to agree that the current name is working fine. Now, if Eddie wants to stop by and say "It's a dialogue title, rename it." that's fine as well.
Fight smart, not fair.I meant for renaming.
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon Stewart
Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
The name does not strike me as being particularly indicative and I was going to suggest a rename, but it seems to be working for one reason or another. Thus, I think some redirects are in order.
How about "Smothered In Affection" or similar to start?
