Yes. Carla is a transwoman. It have been implied a couple of times in the comic already, though not outright spelled yet.

Honestly, that sounds like somebody you'd only ever catch with prior knowledge. The dingdong incident came off as her being overly sensitive on the side of feminism rather than trans.

You do realize that "implied" things tend to be subtle, right?
Also most people aren't aware of transgender folk. If you are, or its in your mindset more often than once in a blue moon, it's easier to pick up on.
