I've seen plenty of games turned into anime. But in turn I have never seen the reverse. Or if there has been, I have never seen an english version of it. OR, if there was an English version, people say they suck...

Now there are a lot of anime there with good game potential, I should know: I aspire to be able to sell one someday. Shows like Baka Test or Hyakka Ryouran are just some of the shows I wish I could see be made into a proper game, not just some doujin fighting game.

If you were in my position what show/s will you turn into a game?

EDIT: I keep saying something that makes no sense.

Black Rock Shooter got a game recently. Apparently it's decent.

Magical Battle Arena isn't an official adaptation but it's well regarded for fans of the included series. In any case, there are many outstanding doujin (indie) games for various anime series.

Then of course there's all the Capcom VS. games with characters from animated franchises.

Even if we stick to Anime First examples there's been a few. There's an official Nanoha game, Mai Hime, has a game, there's been several Evangelion fames, and an official Madoka game is in the works, off the top of my head

There are three Negima games (1 for ps2 and 2 for the DS)

Truckloads of Dragonball Z games, Naruto games etc. (these are the only ones that get translated)

[up]Hm... yeah, just remembered that the current Big Three of the Shōnen Genre have at least one series of games each.

I believe there is a fairly old Berserk game for one of the nintendos.

Well you guys did point that out... But most of them have no english versions... And the ones with english games doesn't follow the original story much, which is not really that bad if it has some good game style and not a repeating side-scroller....

The Capcom VS. games are mostly games first characters so I wasn't counting that one when I made my post.

Most of the anime-based games I play are fighting games, and quite a few of those involve crossovers of some sort.

Anyway, I'd love to see [C] get turned into a video game. It's just begging for it.

I'd also think we can manage pretty good RPGs from some anime, like One Piece maybe. Or better yet, Mahou Sensei Negima.

Naruto Clash Of The Ninja and Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 are actually probably some of the best video game adaptions of any anime out there, especially the latter, whcih has a lot of consistently hi reviews on most gaming websites and magazines.

Funny you should mention Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls, since Jubei is one of the characters who appeared in Queens Gate Spiral Chaos, along with a variety of characters from other anime and games, and basically every Queens Blade character.

Also there are two Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha games (they aren't good, in case you were curious), and there's all the stuff mentioned previously.

Plus a number of anime get VN style game adaptions.

The first two Bleach games on the DS are awesome. They're top-notch fighting games developed by Treasure, one of the best action developers out there.

You know, I think the main reason why so many anime games are bad is either a low production budget or simply that they're using it as advertisement and trying to milk some more money from the series without taking it seriously.

That said, I've seen a whole slew of games based on anime and such - but you already said to exclude the ones that suck/haven't been translated, so I've pretty much got nothing to mention.

@Raso: Negima actually has 3 for PS 2, 1 for Wii, 2 for GBA and 2 for the DS.

Won't that be something that will defeat the purpose? I mean creating a shitty game to promote their anime would instead ruin the anime's name? I would like to believe with low production budget reason than the milk the series one.

Funny you should mention Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls, since Jubei is one of the characters who appeared in Queens Gate Spiral Chaos, along with a variety of characters from other anime and games, and basically every Queen's Blade character.

So she's something like a secret character than having her own storyline? This is an RPG, that originated from a game book which list some of characters from other series. Ha! Keiji Gotoh is involved as usual in the game design.

Queens Gate Spiral Chaos... What game is that? fighting game?

Turn based strategy game, in the same vein as Fire Emblem or Super Robot Wars, and was in fact made by the same people who make Super Robot Wars. Jubei is a standard character in the game, though admittedly the last one you get. Well, she's tied with Noel Vermillion from Blaz Blue for that honor, they are gained simultaneously on different sides of a route split.

Her attacks, if you are curious:

A good game of an anime... MS Saga I really liked (although reviewers slammed it.) Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 was good as well.

There needs to be a Gun X Sword game if there isn't already. That would be awesome, and it gives you multiple playable character possibilities, and great potential for battle both in and out of mecha.

In other news, the Eureka Seven games apparently aren't very good...

Anime are occasionally adapted into Visual Novels as well. For example, Ore Imo and Seitokai No Ichizon.

[up][up][up]I find having a DW for Gundam redundant since they have SRW already, but serial button mashers and cherry tappers might say otherwise.

Uhh...Dynasty Warriors and Super Robot Wars are completely, totally different genres, and saying that having Gundam Musou because Gundam appears in Super Robot Wars makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Have you ever even played either type of game? Not to mention that you didn't even mention SD Gundam G Generation, a series of turn-based strategy games using exclusively Gundams.

[up][up][up]

Gun X Sword appeared in Super Robot Wars K, if you are interested.
