Unless they had precursors of their own who created the technology they use.
It's precursors all the way down.
"We're home, Chewie."I'm still in favor of a much more organic and actually natural force being the next foe, that natural phenomena that the Precursor's based their tech on.

You mean Reapers. huehuehue
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.Did they ever explain the mindset and motivations of the alien invaders other than "conquer everything! bwahaha"?
I think they were more desperate to get here because they were rapidly using up the planet they came from, right?
Their entire way of life is to use up all the resources from one planet/universe, then conquer another and use up all its resources.
I didn't write any of that.Crazy thought: maybe they wouldn't go through resources so quickly if they didn't spend them all in making giant fucking monsters.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.That's pretty much always the motivation of alien invaders.
This is largely a consequence of aliens having little to no reason to ever come to our planet unless they want something from us. Whether it's our land, our resources, our bodies, etc., they don't really have any reason to reveal themselves to us unless they're here to take.
Some day, we may run out of the resources we need on our planet, and then that will be us. We already have one movie to that effect.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Hey, if you were able to make giant fucking monsters, wouldn't you?
Bite my shiny metal ass.And in said movie, one of our own species sentences the human race too extinction because it's too much fun fucking blue chicks.
My various fanfics.Such a belief is what the Star Trek and Star Wars universes are founded on. It is in fact, the impetus behind the entire space program once 'beat those commies' wore off.
And I guess there are worse reasons to oppose imperialism. Probably.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersHere's hoping humanity can avoid reaching a state where we face a choice between genocide and extinction.
Yeah, that Pocahontas Palette Swap had the biggest Inferred Holocaust I've ever seen.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.They wait long enough, they won't have to - just wait till a stray asteroid gets too close and watch as the thing smashes into the planet thanks to the anti-tech Pandorans not having the means to send a rag-tag crew of misfits into space to blow up the thing with a nuke or two.
May take anywhere from a few decades to a few centuries, but still...
Screw nukes. A couple well-placed Rods From God would match the devastation without us having to deal with pesky fallout making a hostile climate even less survivable to work in.
I agree that until Cameron comes out with a sequel, the untold continuation of the story features us as the aliens from Independence Day.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Is there ever really a reason for governments to meet each other outside of trading and stealing resources? If it weren't for mutual protection from outside attackers, there'd never even be a reason for alliances.
I find it kind of worrying that you all are happily suggesting ways to wipe out the natives so that human can get its colonialism on.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersMe too, honestly? Though I suppose "us as the aliens in Independence Day" isn't exactly a sympathetic portrayal of colonialism, and we'd probably get wiped out by Na'vi Will Smith.
... I would watch that.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers-paff- "Welcome to Pandora!"
I, on the other hand, welcome the day we take back the galaxy from the xenos. For the Imperium!
I like settings where humans can live in peace with cool rubber forehead aliens and hyper-intelligent shades of blue.

It would be silly to assume that the entire Precursor race would be killed off by one explosion. There's no reason for them all to be stationed around the Breach.
And even if that was their only kaiju factory, they can rebuild. They have the technology.
