I'd love to hear you get started on Mugabe. With a pipe wrench. Gah! No! Bad Taoist! No violent thoughts!

Back on-topic: I think everyone else in the region is just too busy with their own shit to deal with Sudan right now.

Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.

North Sudan still has slavery, but I've read some suspicious stuff about South Sudan, too.

@Tom

"Not important" is too easy an excuse not to get an idea of whats going on. They all fit to create the context necessary to make an intelligent decision.

As for who is worse, South Sudan as a state hasn't really had a chance to be anything yet, though the SPLM have their skeletons. Actively taking a side in what is a bid to break up the north even further is inviting trouble when they really don't need any at the moment. That said, the north has earned their misfortune tenfold, so no need to pity them. As such, I'd say the north is the worse of the two for the moment, simply because they have done far more shit than the south.

Kinda have to feel sorry for neighboring Ethiopia though. Anarchy on one side, civil war/war on another, Africa's North Korea to the north and Uganda is the relative paradise of those that border it...

Final Fantasy, Foreign Policy, and Bollywood. Helluva combo, that...

Well Bashir, the ruler of Sudan, is it North Sudan now, or whatever the official name is, has been indicted by the ICC for war crimes, so that's something to remember when picking sides.

Yes, let's not forget Darfur as well and the massive massive racism.
