Yeah, no doubt it's a good show. I have the first, second and forth season on DVD (I swear I'll get the third someday). And while Jason Lee is a good actor, is that truly enough to bring yourself to watch Alvin And The Chipmunks...? (Actually, if that movie has any saving grace, it's probably him - I haven't seen it, myself.)
At the very least, even though the show is gone, we still have Raising Hope, right? It even managed to outperformed the show made by the creator of Arrested Development * , and survive to be renewed for a second season.
So the point is they're both good, and Raising Hope seems to be doing all right.
Why did they burry the fireman behind the tree? BECAUSE HE'S DEAD!I've always carried a preference for shows that carry an underlying message. I know a lot of people who hate aesops in any form but I find them to be the whole reason behind having stories at all, if you are going to have the attention of an audience make it count.
My Name is Earl manages to be both irreverent and thoughtful at the same time. It doesn't glamorize bad behavior and it doesn't claim that being a good person will make your life automatically easier. While the episode itself was just okay, I liked when Earl continued to help Philo even though he fixed his karma with the guy simply because it was the right thing to do.
Believe it or not I actually outright disliked Jason Lee before seeing this show. I didn't like his performances in Alvin and the Chipmunks or the Underdog movie, and those were the only two things I ever saw him in. Then My Name Is Earl came along...
I'm glad to see that people here like the show too. I love the warm feeling that I get at the end of almost every episode. The Cops crossover was pretty cool too.

3DS FC: 1719-3694-1541I loved this show, and I'm so pissed off they cancelled it before they could resolve the cliffhanger. It was such a wonderful mix of wackiness and warmth.
Easy street has no parking signs.I loved the show too. I only don't watch it now due to Jason Lee converting to Scientology. I try to avoid anything related to the group for personal reasons I hope other Tropers will accept.
nbc screwed over that show so badly...
Fee fi fo fum. I smell Kraft Dinner.
I lurked a bit and couldn't find a topic for this. I found it on TBS this summer and started watching it every day after American Dad.
I have to say, it's a very well-written, heartwarming, likeable show. Every character has his or her own charm and feeling of purpose. Because of this show I'm tempted to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks again.
