Why are people getting so mad about this? It's not like Nintendo stole the damn thing. Nobody would fund until Nintendo agreed. People should be thanking Nintendo for making it exist rather than raging about how their precious franchise is being stolen by the kiddy company.

So what's Bayonetta exactly? I hear it's an action game but what's it about? I hear the first was really good so I'm definitely interested in the sequel.

Sexy witch kills things in the most over the top and suggestive ways possible, from what I've heard.

Its a brawler with some third person shooting elements. Like Devil May Cry in a way.

Its kind of an inverse of Devil may Cry. Bayonetta is a witch that has to fight angels. The angels aren't exactly nice people and have machinations in place that put the world at risk. Gameplay-wise, its a very polished hack and slash game with a counter mechanic that slows time when you time your moves correctly. Its very fun, the visuals are pretty awesome and if you like the over-the-top style of Devil May Cry, this is definitely a game to try.

Sounds interesting. I'll probably get it if it turns out good.

Just to clarify Nintendo is just funding this. Platinum are the only ones actually making the game?

Yeah, nintendo just pumped cash money into it. Platinum are the ones working on it.

Not unless Nintendo tells them to do it another way. I think we fan safely assume they are improving on the existing game mechanics and hopefully the story too. Bayonetta had a subpar story. But its amazing gameplay made up for that.

Yeah. Platinum Games are the developer for it. Nintendo is just footing the bill I have absolute faith in Platinum Games and their ability to continue Bayonetta.

I don't recall Bayonetta's story being especially horrible. Not when measured against Godhand or Devil May Cry. I guess one might find issues she sold her soul and will go to hell when she stops killing angels but doesn't hurt anything besides angels, who are being manipulated anyway, there is a weird probably unneeded but ultimately unoffensive little girl, there are lots of fights that would look dumb in a non game narrative but that's action games in general, artistic licenses are taken with the source material but lots of games do that, did story get overly stupid, hinder your punching and shooting, break your immersion or otherwise insult you in some way? Those are the only issues I'd really be worried about.

Yeah except Bayonetta just got revived whereas Devil May Cry is dead as hell.

I'm gonna miss Dante.

To clarify, I wasn't complaining out of any particular hate toward Nintendo. However, I know I won't buy a Wii U, and my Playstation exclusivity (again, not a fanboy thing, consoles are expensive) is kicking me in the balls increasingly often.

I say the story is subpar because I'm used to JRPG's that's what I mostly play. Final Fantasy and Shin Megami Tensei.

The story is completely serviceable for its genre. While I would personally like a hack and slash that tries to really tell an involved story, I'm satisfied with the crazy, anime-esque approach most take.
