Kamen Rider: General Thread

Episode 9 is out, guys!

The new Gashat is a Level 5, and a Monster Hunter Expy on top of that. Screw you, Black: Ex-Aid 10/10 Best Rider Ever.

Jokes aside, the name of the game is Drago Knight Hunter Z, but it could be called Drago Knight of Cerebus Z, because the plot is gonna thicken! The doctor who saved Emu's life is now the Bugster victim and Graphite powered up. Plus, there are lots of repeated scenes of him saving Emu's life in a surgery, interspersed with comments from other characters on how Emu haven't undergone surgery to be a Rider. Well, yeah. Kiriya questions the doctor on that, raising the question the viewer must be asking by that point: "You didn't really 'save' him, did you?"

Next week the riders team up. I doubt it will last, but for the sake of defeating Graphite, I figure they'll pull this off. Not that I can blame Emu for not trusting them: Hiro refuses to actually care about the patients, fake black Jack only cares about Gasshats, and lying dude lies so much that even when he tells the truth, he still comes off as a liar.

Also, with the commercials for Heisei generations, I'm once again noticing that we haven't seen Gaim out of suit yet. I'm wondering if Gaku Sano didn't come back. I mean, even the Gaim in the commercial doesn't sound much like him.

Given that promotional materials show the others out of suit, I presume he isn't. No reason not to show him if he was. A bit disappointing given that they managed to get the others but not surprising given that they normally have a bunch of empty suits anyway in big team-ups.

People really like a thicc plot.

That's a shame. Would have been nice to get that many of them out of suit all at once.

Plus it kinda creates a visible hole between Shinnosuke and Haruto, with the dude in-between them being missing and all.

Did anyone ask for Genm spin-off?

So my current place for Kamen Rider eps has been down since Sunday, and the other place I used to go to doesn't even have Ex-Aid episodes.

I'm kinda up shits creek here for watching episode 10.

If anyone knows a place I can try, PM about it.

So for the time being, the Riders are still divided. I feel like it's going to bite them in the ass soon.

Also, I just realized that if any new riders are going to appear, we'll learn about them at the end of the movie.

Hi, nice to meet you all. I was surprised to find out that TV Tropes had a KR thread.

I first got into Kamen Rider around September of this month, but was instantly hooked. I've watched most of the Heisei series (And am currently keeping up with Ex-Aid) and, after reading up on the earlier posts of this thread and seeing how much Strangerthenever praises Showa, started watching Super-1 on the side. It's surprisingly good for an 1980s show (the theme song is catchy too), although kinda cheesy (not that that's a bad thing). My only gripe is that the bike looks like a mess IMO.

But that's enough about me. Look forward to discussing Kamen Rider with you all.

On a side note, I'm visiting my parents for the holidays and don't wanna install things in my parents' new PC yet, so I guess I'll leave Ex-Aid for next year.

I should probably check out some other Showa as well while I'm at it.

That reminds me I should get back to Blade and Agito someday. I was enjoying both of them up to when I had to stop.

First, I really liked the concept of the Drago Knight Hunter Z gashat. Even thought I never played any Monster Hunter-style game

And second, Genm really has some screws loose.

As a Monster Hunter fan Drago Knight Hunter Z is pretty neat, though it is kind of the extreme of how weird Ex-Aid's designs get (well, not counting Maximum Mighty X but we've only seen that in catalog scans so far). I can definitely see Lazer dying soon though. Maybe Baksou Bike could be used to make an inanimate bike anyway?

I'd say give to Asuna, though I admit, that's almost entirely because of my personal feelings about having a long term main female rider.

Though I also admit that Asuna probably isn't a good choice for other reasons as well.

I assume Lazar's powers will just go to waste once he's dead.

Does Birth have a Rider kick?

I just checked the wiki and I didn't see one listed.

Huh.

I never noticed.

I mean, there are Riders who don't have kicks as finishers, but it's weird that I missed that Birth was one of them.

IIRC Birth's finishers were Birth Day(equipping all of Birth's attachments to the suit for a finisher) and CLAWS Sasori (summoning the attachments to form a scorpion droid).

In other news, it's confirmed that Kiriya bites the dust◊. Looks like things are starting to get serious.

Of course they had to kill of the most likable of the three secondary Riders.

At very least, this may mean this series is gonna go the Faiz/Gaim route in terms of overall tone. If so, count me excited.

Honestly I think he's the least likable of the secondary Riders. Taiga may be a villain and Hiiro may be an asshole but at least you can trust them not to lie to you.
