This reminds me of how my sister used to have me watch her play video games and focus on the storyline for her. Just in case it turned out to be important, or her focusing on the game over the plot meant she missed something she needed to know in order to advance. Keeping track of Metal Gear Solid 2's story for her was fun...
I'm pretty sure she grew out of that, though.

What if it is taken to next levels? This kind of gamer is pissed off that the producer provides a story for readers to enjoy, but then these gamers were like "What a waste of effort!" and then scorns anyone who dares to say enjoy the story while also liking the gameplay, like saying that they're no true gamer.
There's a lot of games that are like this, producers give efforts to story, hardcore gamers scorn it.
