Anime Transformation/Evolution Sequences

What are some of your favorites?

I wonder what inspired this?

Tuxedo Mask's transformation on a motorbike. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a video on You Tube, but I assure you it was awesome.

To be honest though I haven't seen that many, I mostly like the Sailor Moon ones for playing it straight, being parody-able and colorful and sparkly... or maybe that's bias from liking the show itself.

Not even TTGL neverquite reaches awesome (BROTHERLY COMBINING! - ew). Nanoha is too much loli fanservice and the Madoka ones just have the costume pieces appear in flashes, and I'm pretty sure Cardcaptor Sakura has to change manually. No, I already lampshaded Small Reference Pools.

But I guess Princess Tutu and Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka don't have bad ones. I'd just hesitate before calling them awesome.

Sorry, I appologise for being so dismissive (which probably just makes my own taste look bad). Still combining mecha aren't my thing.

And TTGL is otherwise very awesome.

Come to think of it I also like the digimon digievolutions from the first series, but that might be nostalgia.

I like a bunch of Digimon evolutions myself.

But I also love alot of Super Robot ones too.

That was back when I actually owned a digimon digipet though...

It's more like a reveal but whatever.

You do realize there was an entire season where Nanoha wasn't doing loli fanservice, right?

Fate's last transformation sequence in the first series dispenses with the fanservice (you basically get gold light blocking out her entire body) and simply brings the awesome as her cape appears above her head, splays out counterclockwise, and settles perfectly into place on her shoulders without her moving an inch.

Also partial to the VF-0's transformation from Macross Zero.

I'd bet there are some good Sentai ones, but that's not a genre I'm familiar with.

The first appearance of Angewomon is pretty damn epic too.

Gatomon, CHOU SHINKA!:

I kinda like the "costume pieces appear in flashes" deal. Not too showy. Simple, neat.

Okay I'll appologise for the Nanoha one too (I barely made it to the end of the first season). it is fanservice to begin with, but then so are most shows and I certainly can't claim to have seen many of Nanoha's transformations at all.

All from 48 episodes of it.

Really? Didn't seem like trolling to me.

I always liked the Digimon Tamers evolution sequences. It's actually kind of weird the way their skin seems to peel off revealing the wire form underneath, then reforms onto their bodies as their Champion/Adult forms.

Also, while I don't like admitting I watched Sailor Moon, Mamoru's Motorbike transformation was pretty nifty.

This has to be one of the most memorable henshin scenes in anime

And this too.

Let's just say that Kunihiko Ikuhara makes some of the most memorable transformation sequences in anime.

I can't find anymore of that Mai-Otome transformations, particularly of the one Nina Wong used in the Zwei OVA and Arika's Zwei mode.

@Flygon Utena must be part 'car' Transformer.

My fave transformation right now is:

- Koko's transformation in Melody Of Oblivion - Soul Fusion in Genesis Of Aquarion - Shana's transformation into Flame Haze

- Ultimate Girls transformation (fish slap) - Nuku Nuku's transformation in Nuku Nuku Dash - Star Healer's transformation

If I were to list every transformation I liked, we'll be stuck here forever. I generally like most transformation with Fusion Dance. But I just hate it when the transformation drags on like in Penguindrum's Survival Strategy.

Nobody knows (yet). Nothing in Penguindrum makes any sense.
