Yes. Trope is about music videos where the visuals have nothing to do with the subject of the song. That's a far too broad title for a specific trope.
Bumping because though my question was answered, the problem wasn't exactly addressed.
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartMaybe we could merge the existing article and your ykttw under a name like Music Video Dissonance?
Yeah, this should be renamed. I can't think of a good, clear title that describes a trope this specific without getting ridiculously long, though. I dunno, Lyrics/Video Mismatch (custom title needed)?

Also, this trope seems to mean the same thing as another trope: Music Video Overshadowing. I think we should merge those two.
No, Music Video Overshadowing is about the video adding meaning to the song, making the lyrics seem symbolic (people see a connection between the lyrics and the video, even though there isn't really one). Narrative Non Sequitor is when the video is completely unrelated to the song (people don't see any connection between the lyrics and the video). In Narrative Non Sequitor, the video could in fact have less depth than the lyrics, although it doesn't have to.
Lyrics/Video Mismatch seems good. Music Video Dissonance does as well, but it's not specific enough as to what the dissonance is about.

"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartBump.
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartThere is now a page action crowner for this trope here. Feel free to add options as you see fit.
Personally, I support the merge option, since I think that what Narrative Non Sequitur covers right now is pretty much the same as what the YKTTW does but is broader.

"irhgT nm0w tehre might b ea lotof th1nmgs i dont udarstannd, ubt oim ujst goinjg to keepfollowing this pazth i belieove iN !!!!!1 dYeah, merging sounds best. The definitions are small and concept is the same. I really don't know what 'renaming' is supposed to achieve.
Calling the crowner in favor of merging.
Now that the trope and the YKTTW will be merged, should we have a separate crowner about what the name for that merged trope should be?
"irhgT nm0w tehre might b ea lotof th1nmgs i dont udarstannd, ubt oim ujst goinjg to keepfollowing this pazth i belieove iN !!!!!1 dMay as well.
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartHere is a crowner for choosing the name of the merged trope. I realize it is pretty unusual to have the old name on a crowner that includes other possible names, but I think it is called for considering the trope will be merged so traditional rename rules do not really apply.
Still, if I am wrong and I did overstep my bounds, please tell me so I can avoid making that mistake in the future.
"irhgT nm0w tehre might b ea lotof th1nmgs i dont udarstannd, ubt oim ujst goinjg to keepfollowing this pazth i belieove iN !!!!!1 dThis needs more votes.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickLyrics/Video Mismatch has a clear lead and is Exactly What It Says on the Tin, so if we don't get many more votes in the next day or so we may as well go with it.
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartWell, it's been another day and Lyrics/Video Mismatch is still in the lead. I'm going to send out a holler for this crowner to be called.
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartCalling. Do the swap.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickNarrative Non Sequitur is now a redirect for Lyrics/Video Mismatch, the wicks should be fixed, I sent a report to move the discussion, and there are now notes about the change on the Renamed Tropes page and in the renamed tropes thread. Lyrics/Video Mismatch's custom title request was approved, but for some reason it does not seem to be showing up in the wicks. I posted about that issue in the custom title problems thread though, so hopefully it gets solved relatively soon.
As for the merge, I added the examples that were on the old YKTTW, but I was not sure if there were any changes to the description that needed to be made to complete that merge. Anyway, I welcome feedback both on that aspect of the rename/merge and on any other part of it.
Thanks to shimaspawn for calling the crowner.

Crown Description:
Previous crowner showed consensus support to merge Narrative Non Sequitur and the YKTTW Lyrics/Video Subject Gap. This crowner is for choosing the merged trope's name.
So yeah, based on discussion in this YKTTW, I'm guessing that trope's description could use tweaking, and its name could use changing. What would you say, TRS?
