So long as the art style is effective and the animation isn't lazy, I'd say it doesn't matter what it's like.
I've got two guns pointed west and a broken compass.Suede explained it pretty well. It shouldn't matter whether a show slants further or closer to an animesque style, it's good storytelling and entertainment that counts. And good quality animation.
Now shows that are animesque simply to bank in on the fact that anime is popular...that I do get sick of.

CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH
It might be just be because of overexposure on the internet, but I think there's enough animesque shows as it is.
I put on my robe and tinfoil hat...If we have anymore or any less it will destroy the fabric of reality.
Keep that...THING...away from me!
And you know what's funny? A Flash-animated animeseque series that is done right exists.
I'm Deboss, and I approve this message.
I am, however, willing to admit that given a choice between certain stylization styles and generic Animesque, I'll take Animesque any day of the week.
Fight smart, not fair.Doesn't matter, as long I enjoy it.
If a chicken crosses the road and nobody else is around to see it, does the road move beneath the chicken instead? It just depends on how it's done.
And it isn't made in the United States. Go figure.
I pretty much agree with what everyone else here said, so I'm gonna comment:
Uhh... very few animesque shows (and very few anime for that matter) actually resemble Tezuka's artstyle, which was more reminiscent of classic Disney.

visit my blog! The only manga that do resemble Osamu Tezuka's style is Naoki Urasawa's stuff, and that's only because Osamu Tezuka is his favorite Mangaka of all time. Hell, His series Pluto is basically the same thing as the original Astro Boy except from Pluto's Perspective and is somehwat Darker than the original.

Watch SymphogearI would say a lot of stuff from the 60s resembles Tezuka's work, though mostly because a lot of early mangaka were his assistants before branching out on their own.
Just compare the human characters of Astro Boy, Gigantor and Cyborg 009 sometime to see what I mean.
visit my blog!I think I may be confusing Osamu with someone else but i dont know who...
Never tell your problems to anyone...20% don't care and the other 80% are glad you have them.To answer the thread title, "no". We don't need more or less of it. We just need good cartoons.
As an a beginner animator, I would say no for more Aminesque. Why? Its a very lazy thing to do over doing a different art style that hasn't been done before. The only shows that I managed to enjoy that had the Animesque style were Samurai Jack, Sym Bionic Titan, and My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic. I would say the last airbender, but I cant comment on it because I havent seen it.
Besides, most of these Animesques shows just follow the same thing. And just recycle those anime expressions you've seen countless times. Its like most of the Animesque shows that are awful just dont care about the writing or even the characters.
Since when was mlp animesque?
Never tell your problems to anyone...20% don't care and the other 80% are glad you have them.I don't really think of Samurai Jack as being particularly animesque either. It takes a lot of eastern influence but I've never seen an anime that use that style of character design or animation style.
You got to admire how they put SO MUCH DETAIL in every drawing though. I then turn my head to look at the Western stuff and wonder why we don't get with the program! No matter how you get around it, the style of characters most people associate with anime have much more realistic faces and body proportions.
It's bad to stick with a style your whole life and not grow as an artist. But I think anime has tons of stuff we can improve on.
Different art styles - LPI doesn't necessarily make good art, and good art doesn't have to necessarily follow a certain style. Detail or not, and what kind of detail that is, all boils down to artistic choice.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.More detail is beautiful and great but it makes things harder to animate, thus why most anime is a lot of standing/still figures with lips moving, it's far simpler to do than say, eclectic poses and body movements. Besides, even though I love the stuff, I have more preference towards something slightly more stylized.

The Blog The Art
A lot of animated shows recently have had a animesque art style. Do you think we need more of this kind of thing or less? Personally I dont want are animation to look like that japanese stuff. We need to have more varying art styles, instead of everything looking like a ripoff of Osamu Tezuka's work.
