You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Nope, Its still ongoing. The blog tis still up and updating.
Watch SymphogearI haven't seen a fan RPG this ambitious since that Ultima remake.
I just hope they can deliver with the concepts they've discussed on some of the site's older articles, the mail and hotel system in particular.
Oh man, I'd completely forgotten about this. I remember seeing it while looking up general stuff on the Mother series after playing Mother 3 via the fan translation.
But that must have been longer ago than I thought, because I remember little to nothing being present on their website, and now it seems like they've made quite a bit of progress since then, and with a thriving fanbase.
I can tell this has a lot of potential, and I think they'll be able to deliver, hopefully without the pretentiousness that marred Crimson Echoes, IMO (though that might just have been the story elements of Chrono Cross seeping through).

Presumably Nintendo will wait till it's about 90% done before sending in the stormtroopers
Except [condescending response follows]. Because [sarcasm here]. You do understand [snark], right? POTHOLE TO SARCASM MODESince Itoi has stated that he would love to see what kind of Mother game the fans could make, I would hope there won't be any C&D issues. But since he isn't Nintendo, it's still a possibility.
However, the team has accounted for it, according to a post on the Starmen boards. The biggest thing in their favor is their original game engine, along with original content, and explicit references to the Mother series could be retooled, thus becoming more a Fan Spiritual Successor than Fan Sequel, should it come to that point.

Ninty doesnt even care about this series. I doubt they would ever do something about it
Never tell your problems to anyone...20% don't care and the other 80% are glad you have them. This is still happening?
Fantastic.
Erm... They do care. The only problem is with all the copyrights and whatnot.
Hooray! I totally forgot about this for nine months! Let's hope they can make a nice spiritual successor to the Mother Trilogy.

Always looking for a good MMORPG with a great community...You all probably know the history behind the rebrand now, reviving this thread due to an update.
A necro with 2020 vision, with a new trailer and the new official title:
I've said this in a few places so I might as well say it here.
While what we've seen so far does look good, I still have very little faith this will ever actually be completed. While I would love to be proven wrong on this and will kindly eat these words if it does happen, nothing about what the devs have done over the past two decades of development have inspired confidence that we'll see this release anytime soon.
I just hope the dev team comes to their senses and opens up a Kickstarter for this game. 99% of the problems they've faced in the development (devs leaving in a huff and gutting what they put into it so they can actually profit off of everything they put into it over the years, long development times, the sheer scope creep of the project for what is actually a small indie development team) stem from this. They have absolutely no reason not to now that it's an original IP.
When given the choice between putting in literal decades worth of non-profit work into something with no eventual pay-off VS actually putting food on the table, people will choose the latter nine times out of ten.

Jesus, this has been over a decade in the making. Echoing the above post - as always their trailers, artwork, music... everything looks incredible, and you feel the love and hardwork radiating off the screen.
But the fact that this is the 5th or 6th iteration doesn't inspire confidence in it ever getting completed. Kudos to this guy for sticking to it all these years but c'mon. Sell this thing on Steam when it's near completion and get the people involved, and yourself, paid.
Just found out about this but its looking amazing http:
