This makes me happy.
#IceBearForPresidentWhy? It's not a complaint, I just see why they'd feel the need to do this one.

Edit: Ah, an early 2012 release. Still doesn't dampen my anticipation.

Aww, did I hurt your widdle fee-fees?Sad how this series hadn't have its thread till now.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Shitty voice acting is shitty. Ewwwwww.
i. hear. a. sound. The new voice acting doesn't sound that bad to me. I mean, it's weird hearing a voice that's different from the one I'm used to, but I'd probably adjust to it after about an hour of play. Honestly I think they sound more or less the same quality wise, maybe a little better even. I'm just not sure I agree with changing the voice acting at all; the games flaws make it interesting from a historical perspective. In not too long the HD collection will be the only version that people can get their hands on, which means people won't have the option of hearing the original recording, and that perspective will be lost.

James is really animu compared to the original, but the rest are much better.
That's pretty cool but only SH 2 and 3? or are they gonna add 1 and 4 too?

What, does anyone actually care about voice acting? When you play Silent Hill and Resident Evil, shitty voice acting is not an option but rather something you just run with. I did like Leon's voice in Resident Evil 4 though.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Silent Hill 4 is backwards compatible on 360.
Jonah FalconI didn't play the game until about 4 years ago so your nostalgia filter excuse goes right out the window. There wasn't anything wrong with that voice acting, especially nothing that warrants wasting time and money redoing the V As.

I've never played Silent Hill 2 or 3, so it'll be a 100% fresh experience for me.
Well, I know about the Dog ending, anyway. :p
Jonah FalconThen you know all you need to know.
#IceBearForPresidentI'm mostly indifferent to the VA change, but nobody can do Angela's voice worse than the original actor. I hope.
Aww, did I hurt your widdle fee-fees?In a lot of ways, the game is a much richer experience if you know about the Dog ending ahead of time... almost everything that happens in the game foreshadows it, to the point that seeing all of the subtle nods toward it is actually more powerful than being hit by the twist. The only real downside is that it almost makes the game TOO disturbing.
Except [condescending response follows]. Because [sarcasm here]. You do understand [snark], right? POTHOLE TO SARCASM MODEHm....This is interesting, but I'm wondering how Claudia and Vincent will turn out. I mean, I enjoyed the Narm inherent in her saying "GAWD" every now and then, and Vincent's memorable "They look like monsters to you?"
Still, exciting news. I very much enjoyed SH 3 and now I can have it haunt me forever...
(The mirror room...in HD...oh god...)
I just like the barking music in the end credits. :D
Jonah FalconWhich was y'alls favorite in the series?
3 for me.
#IceBearForPresidentgotta go with 2. It felt the most human and real, the story that is. As far as 1 and 3 are concerned, I honestly found all that cult business just kind of goofy. They still have absolutely killer atmospheres, and all three (the only ones I played) are scary as shit, so they're still good games. It's just that 2 had the only story that resonated with me emotionally. And when I say it was emotionally resonant, I mean it broke my heart and traumatized me and I was never the same again. (exaggerating for the sake of humor, but you get my point)

It's interesting that you say that, Tilitzd, because I found 3 to be the most poignant, storywise, for me. I really loved how the brought the story from the first SH game full circle, albeit in a very depressing way, and the whole sequence from finding your father to the car ride scene (trying to be vague so it won't need spoiler invisibility ink) from SH 3 just ate away at my soul with the tragedy of it. And while the Cult plotline is a bit hard to swallow, the characters that represented the faction in SH 3 were very memorable and enjoyable, and that made the pill go down smoothly.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
(Of course, I've never played SH 2, so maybe I'd change my mind after playing it. Don't have the right console for it, and no PC port... le sigh....)
Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.Tied between 2 and 4. I think both have a great story with interesting characters. I find Walter Sullivan to be a bit more disturbing than Pyramid Head, as far as the most well-known antagonists of both games go and I found it to be very chilling to explore the worlds in 4.
So I'm guessing SH 1 isn't in the collection?

Nope, it's not. But PS 1 graphics would look horrible blown up to 720p, and it would take too much time and money to redo them.
Somehow you know that the time is right.I see where you're coming from, there are things I liked about SH 3's story, the characters were pretty interesting and memorable, so I feel you on that. It's just...the cult stuff. I don't know, I just can't take it seriously, I'm not sure what it is. I guess I don't like the game's threat to have a clearly defined human face, it takes away the feeling of being lost in an unknown (and maybe unknowable) world that the series's atmosphere establishes oh so well.
And as far as not having played 2, when the HD collection comes out I suggest getting on that ASAP. It is quite worth it.
Silent Hill Collection hitting 360 after all.
