Nice episode this week too! I knew the guy was going to adopt them but I didn't know the reason why.

New episode out. Subs as well.

You know, I haven't expected to be so hooked on it myself, when I started watching it. But I guess the 'family' theme resonate strongly with myself, as I have a fairly extended family as well, with siblings of loose blood connection. Me and my siblings hardly lived all in one place, ourselves, so the 'siblings must stay together' doesn't meant much to me. However, the suggestion that Yuuta shouldn't care about Sora and Miu because "they are not blood related" is really insulting to me. Family is family, blood relation or not.

About this episode, it was more of a touching episode then a comic one. I suppose it will return to the mood of the first episode and half shortly (it is supposed to be a comedy, right?) but I frankly like the current tone. Some "drama" but still fairly light mooded, with comic scenes here and there, mixed with the drama of the lost family and of changing a lifestyle.

[up]I checked out the manga adaptation.

The series is supposed to be touching. The comedy in episode 1 is severely misleading.

Which manga adaption? Papa No Iukoto Wo Kikinasai page tells me there 6 different manga, and each aimed to a different demographic. ^^; Well, I would hardly complain if they go for that route.smile

How is the manga, btw? Worth reading?

I read all of them. tongue

The one about the baby girl made me cry. The rest of them were mainly OK, but cover their lives before the parents went missing, which made them much less interesting to me, but most of them only have one scanlated chapter anyway. (exceptions being the one about college life and the ones that cover after the parents go missing)

I rather like the one without a subtitle, myself.

Well, hopefully the anime will rise the interest on translating it (maybe even the novel! although less likely).

Reading the main page more cautiously, it seem 5 of the manga are side stories and only one of them is the main story? This makes matters less complicate, I guess. The main one is good?

PS:Lol, apparently Baka-Tsuki already started the novel. Though it is not in their site yet, for some reason.

They're all well-done for what they're trying to do, but only Usagi no Mark, Rojou Kansatsu Kenkyuu Nisshi and the main one really got much of a reaction from me.

But yeah, the subtitled ones seem to be supplementary material.

EDIT: They started the novel? Well, then maybe I might actually enjoy reading a LN for once.

I will go read the main manga then.smile I guess it wouldn't hurt to look at the side material as well, since they are short, but you say most of them are not that good?

As for the novel. Looking at the Baka-Tsuki forums, it seem it is not yet an official project, even if the translation have already started (which is why you can't find it in the wiki, although you can read the chapters in their forum). Be aware before starting it, though. The releases seems to be fast paced (three chapters in less then 5 days), but I believe it is common such a tiresome project to just die down after some time. The anime will probably get people motivated for a few months, but after that, I wouldn't be surprised if it got stalled for years. Personally, I preffer to start reading it only if complete or near to completion (and active).

I don't think they're not good, just not really my cup of tea.

I'm still going to keep up with them, though.

Also, good point.

I read the mangas. I liked the anime better. The slower pacing is better for this kind of story, I think. Not that the manga is terrible fast, but the anime allow a better glance in the girl's life before the accident as well as adressing better the most immediate concerns. The manga has more pointless loli fanservice scenes, which is a minus to me. They aren't too terrible (it is at last clear that Yuuta is not interested), but they feel unnecessary (most of them aren't even funny).

Personally, I wouldn't recommend reading the manga now. Waiting for the anime seems better. The manga is in a early stage as well, anyway, so the anime will overtake it soon enough.

Amusingly, I am more interested in the side stories. The manga is organized so the main story focus all in the familiar center, which is where the most interesting story is on. However, the side stories focus on each character struggles outside said center (plus an extra manga for side characters), which is interesting on its own. I am mainly interested in seeing how the girl's scholar life changed after going to live with Yuuta (I am kinda assuming Sora's manga will have a Time Skip at some point), specially because I am not sure if this will be covered in the anime or even the novels.

For that reason, I am not terrible interested in Street Observation Research Club manga myself, as it seems to be completely set before the accident, although it is a good college humor manga by itself.

Yeah, the manga about RORI only has any plot at all because it's set before the incident.

In any event, I'm not surprised. This is why I went out of my way to say they're just not my cup of tea, not that they were bad. My preferences are weird.

Nah, it's a bunny plushie like Rin's Lop-Ear. The facial features does make it look like Kyubey though.

New episode out and subbed. A funny episode with a couple of heartwarming moments, which I guess it will be the standard for the rest of the series.

I am glad the anime focused in the immediate logistic, a matter that was more or less glanced over in the manga. Speaking of comparing both, I am also very glad the anime focus much less on random fanservice (to the point it was pretty much nonexistent this episode) than the manga. Fanservice do not bother me much (even loli fanservice) but, in this series, is pretty distracting.

Finally, that neighborhood woman is the same from the Hidamari manga, isn't she? I guess this more or less answer whether these spin-offs are canonical or not.

I'm waiting for RORI's subs, but I though the spin-offs being canon was obvious in this case. tongue

[up]You never know. Also, there is some conflicting canons between the anime and manga, since the neighborhood only moved after the girls in the manga, while the anime have her already there.

Btw, may I ask why wait for RORI's subs? Are theirs that much better? Horrible subs' are professional translations, so it can't be too horrible (ironically). Any mistake shouldn't be too glaring.

[up]Fair enough. But I guess this is the sort of thing I do not care much unless it is my "to save" version.tongue

[up][up]Dunno, but it is not fully translated yet. The first book (out of nine so far) is mostly finished, having only the 4th to be translated, but, personally, I avoid reading stuff I am not sure it will be finished. Also, with the anime still in motion, I guess I will wait to finish it before even looking the novel (I already regret having read the manga).

Then again, I do not know if it was released there in Korea.
