I'm not positive, but I think the before is from a manga cover.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyI think that's right. But I'm sure it wouldn't take long to find a similar black and white image.

That picture is everywhere from Promo art to the cover of the ps2 game [1]◊
Volume covers? Volume 1◊ volume 2◊ volume 24◊
[2]◊
Or we could go with the many cutesy moments [3] [4] like him getting mobbed by girls.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!How's this?
Yeah, the one on the left looks like cover art to me.
Edit: ninja'd

Fight smart, not fair. There's the vague possibility somebody might get the impression that he had to beat off his harem in the literal sense, but I think the age difference takes care of that. It's got my vote.

I liked the whole Tareme to Tsurime of the old pic but yeah it works. (Even in the covers he gets a subtle version of it [1]◊ [2]◊)

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Mild problem: The proposed image puts too much focus on the dark-haired girl as opposed to the guy.
Those covers bring up a point - the image should probably use volume or chapter numbers instead of "before" and "after".
True, but I was afraid that trying to take a similarly-sized piece from any of the other scenes of him being mobbed would either be too busy or not get enough of the girls in with him...that was the best compromise I could make. I think it works well enough.
Bump...any other thoughts? Would my proposal be better if it included chapter #s?
Nedroid has done a pretty good parody of this trope. Just throwing that out there, since there seems to be some lack of well-received suggestions.
This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.Dunno if I like the Nedroid one better, necessarily.

First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things.I think Willbyr's version works best. I mean, it really kinda fits given that the series focuses a lot more on the girls at the beginning anyway.
@Bio Tube: It would be fairly easy to replace the "Before/After" with "Chapter 1/Chapter 200" or whatever.

Reaction Image RepositoryVery meh on the Nedroid strip.
Clock is ticking.
It's only discussion about a trope. It doesn't make good enough of an image.
I like the new version of Negima.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Clock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
Yeah. I get how Negima is an example... but an image from the Anime with one from the Manga just doesn't gel.
