This is a thread for discussing ID Software's hit first person shooter series, DOOM, which was originally released in late 1993 and has made the genre of First Person Shooters very popular. I know that lately the FPS industry has been filled with nothing but bland and unoriginal Call of Duty clones lately, so why not take a look back at the classic that made the genre popular? I liked Doom 3, but it wasn't as good as the original sprite-based DOOM games of the 90's and even though it was a great game, I don't know if I can call it a sequel to Doom II. There WAS Doom 64 on the N64 though which is considered to be the true sequel to Doom II as it finished off the storyline of the first two games with the original Doomguy. Doom is widely considered to be a Franchise Zombie because even though it hasn't had a new entry to the franchise since 2004, the community and modding/WAD-making community is still just as active as it was in the 90's when DOOM first became a hit and there is still new versions of several source ports of the game being made. Anyways, discuss anything related to DOOM.
