  • Captain America vs. Batman (badass normals of the company)
  • Hulk vs. Superman (incredibly powerful beings, Superman's restraint contrasts with Hulk's rage)
  • Storm vs. Wonder Woman (prominent females with connection to gods)
  • Thor vs. Captain Marvel (a god and a man with the power of gods that use lightning, Norse vs. Greek)
  • Spider-Man vs. Flash (agile heroes with a knack for wisecracks [if it's Wally West]
  • Iron Man vs. Lex Luthor (rich industrialists in Powered Armor; Iron Man in a sleek one and Lex in the bulky one from DC Universe Online)
  • Silver Surfer vs. Green Lantern (intergalactic heroes with energy manipulation powers who've served cosmic beings)
  • Wolverine vs. The Joker (extremely dangerous, despite one being trained and one not; Wolverine struggles to control himself while Joker embraces madness)
  • Deadpool vs. Deathstroke (obvious matchup is obvious)
  • Punisher vs. Grifter (Superheroes Packing Heat, one serious and one not so much)
There are a few others I'd want like Gambit, Blade, Doom, Luke Cage, Poison Ivy, Martian Manhunter, Cyborg, and some others, but I can't think of matchups right now. I really want this game...

Time for further picks;

8.Spiderman vs Blue Beetle: The're both bug-themed, they're both urban-based to degrees, (in the case of the Beetle, it depends more-so on which Beetle,) and they're both wise-crackers. The only questions is which Beetle should picked; Ted Kord, or Jaime. (I don't think Garett is a real consideration here.) Unfortunately, the only Beetle I'm familiar with is Ted, so I can't personally vouch on Jamie, or whether or not he would be the better fit.

9.Green Arrow vs Hawkeye: Need I say more? (Oh, and if you want to keep them from being clones, give them different Trick Arrows. And I'm sure there are other things that could be done with them as well.)

10.Hulk vs Lobo. I only chose Lobo because the only other counterpart I could think of in any way was Solomon Grundy, and I don't think he's the best choice for this sort of thing. (Plus, this way adds gameplay&character variety.) Anyway... look at it this way; Hulk is a raging, nearly unstoppable engine of mass destruction. and quite possibly one of the most powerful beings among the Super community, if not the most powerful. Lobo... is considerably different, but both of these beings aren't very nice. (And yes, I know Hulk has a soft side, but I'm looking at a direct comparison here.) Lobo in particular is all kinds of nasty, and a very tough customer; very physically strong and resilient, is packin' heat, and when he bleeds, each drop of blood creates a clone. That last one alone would make for a rather nice super-move; he cuts himself with his knife, and voila — instant clones. So there's that.

11.Wolverine vs ???; Honestly, I have no idea who to use for this; someone please help me. (I'd try someone else, but... 'No Wolverine, NO BUY!' I think you get the idea...)

12.Dr.Strange vs Doctor Fate: These two are some of the most powerful sorcerers in all existence. There's all sorts of pointal for cool, inventive movesets on both sides, and since Magic Can Do Anything, each character can have their own unique set of their moves.

13.Captain Marvel vs Captain Mar-vell: ... You figure it out.

Well, that's enough about the heroes, I think. Time for the villains!

14.Lex Luthor vs Doctor Doom: First, let me start with... DOOM!. Doom is not only one of Marvel's best villains, but one of the best characters in general they have to offer; I could give a whole list of reasons, but I imagine many people also know of this character, and why he is so good. (He owns a country, to sat the least. Yes, I'm a fan; sue me.) Then there's Luthor. Like Doom, Luthor has a huge presence in his own universe, and while he doesn't own a country, ever since 1985 he's been more then just a mad scientist, and has been part of his universe's 'world', and also has a crapload of reasons for being really good. Oh, and they're both really smart. Go figure.tongue

15.Joker vs Red Skull: Joker is a complete crazy, insane, omnicidal nutjob whole who would like nothing more then to murder as many people as he wished. Oh, and have some fun while he's at it. Red Skull is a bit different, (Joker himself actually went against Red Skull in a comic cross-over,)but there are similarities. While Red Skull has more defined goals, (such as ruling the world, for one,) he's also a complete omnicidal monster, and while he, again, has actual objectives in mind, he also has no qualms about mass murdering countless innocents while doing so; he actually considers the Nazi lifestyle outdated. And finally, like the Joker, there are many fellow villains in their respective universes who want nothing to do with them.

Aaaaaaaannd, more picks later.

I'd definitely give this hypothetical game a try if they make Thor not suck. And give him the ability to actually throw his hammer.

It's more frustrating waiting for the asskicking than the asskicking itself.

Oh, and more on the Heroes' side before my next 'real' post;

16.Martian Manhunter vs Vision. The're both members of their Universe's respective top superteams, and are most commonly associated with them, instead of solo careers. Neither of them are human, and they both (retroactively, in Martain Manhunter's case,) were members of the team for decades, hardly ever leaving, if at all. (Visions did leave, (but I don't think it was ever for long periods; that is , until Disassembled...) They're excerpts at intangibility, and, and they both have density control. (Oh, and they can fly too.) And finally, the're both regarded in-universe as some of the most 'human' members of their respective teams, despite their origins. (One's from Mars, the other's an android.)

I guess there isn't much of a need to pair them off, really. Do your (this is a general "you") picks change if you're just looking for interesting individual characters who might have interactions with several different characters from the other company?

Alternatively, you might pair each hero off against a villain from the other company, like the Iron Man vs Lex option before. There are a lot of ways to go about this, I guess.

[up]I actually thought about adding that in, but then I thought, "Who the **** would I put for Thor?" If DC had it's own B-Lister Hercules like Marvel does, then Wondy' and Thor could each fight a Hercules, but DC's Hercules is really just a somewhat supporting Wonder Woman character that isn't too important, so that option was thrown out the window. Which is a shame, because I like (Marvel) Herc'.

Wait; I have an idea.

17.Hercules vs Orion: So... I had a hard time thinking of who would be a good pick for Hercules; he'd/she'd have to a deity of some sort, and in Hercule's waist class, not to mention a decent enough amount of notability. And after some thinking, I finally came up with who I think would be a good choice; Orion. While it's true that Orion isn't from any sort of set of Mythical gods, he is a member of DC's New Gods. So... while the two characters have their differences, they also have enough similarities. Both are immortal Gods of a sort, and beyond that, they're both bulky and really strong. They also like a good fight, (though they appreciate it on different levels,) and sometimes need their allies or teammates to back them off when necessary. Each of the pair has also been a member of their respective universe's top superteams (Avengers and JLA,) at least once. (Actually, Orion has been a member of the Justice League at least twice, while Hercules served in the Avengers for around a year in the late 60's, then had a considerably longer tenure throughout the 80's and early 90's.)

I'd also like to have a 'Atom vs Hank Pym' matchup, but I'm really not sure how their size-changing powers could work in combat.

I was thinking John Constantine doesn't really have the flashy combat powers that Strange does, Zatanna might be a better match for Strange. Not familiar with Zatanna though, I could be wrong.

If we're including all of DC... There any chance Rorschach and Ozymandias could make it in? Swamp Thing?

I matched Constantine with Dr. Strange because they don't have the same powers. I think it'd be more interesting to see how two radically different but still powerful wizards fight, rather than two more similar ones. Same goes for pairing up characters like the Vision and Martian Manhunter, or Thanos and Darkseid; they're so similar, what's the point?

As for the Watchmen characters, I doubt it, as DC keeps them out of the crossover stuff, but if The Question made it in he could be similar to Rorschach.

I've got two guns pointed west and a broken compass.

I meant that I don't really see Constantine in straight-up combat, he seems to be more of the kind of guy who sets things up in advance or enlists other people beings to fight for him.

Shame about Watchmen, I'd really want to play Ozymandias [lol]

I'd rather see a game ala Freedom Force or something with Marvel and DC, rather than a fighting game. There could be a fight mode on there, where you pick any two characters you've unlocked and/or leveled up and pit them head-to-head with a friend or against the computer.

But for the main game, I'd MUCH rather see a true story and action combat, with many many mooks.

Something else that is often a problem with superhero games is that they're too small-scale. All they do is fight mobs of villains. It's they're all street level characters, only with the "streets" getting different skins (for instance, space stations, jungles, alien worlds, etc.).

Come on, characters like Thor and Green Lantern and Dr. Fate are powerhouses that can literally move mountains. There should be some way to work in that level of scale!

Admittedly this is hard, but it'd be great to see.

Personally I wouldn't want to play a game where all of the characters play exactly the sane as another set of characters. Characters should be paired based on similarities, but shouldn't have the same exact powersets.

And I think Constantine would work best as a character appearing in someone else's ending.

[up][up]They wouldn't; two speeders, or two archers, or two tanks, etc, can play differently if you put enough thought into their movesets. If I didn't think that was possible, I wouldn't choose some of the choices I did. I might put up a hypothetical movelist at some point, so you can get an idea then.

Nah, i'd say Ms Marvel vs. Captain Marvel.

Ms.Marvel is used more than Mar-Vell.

Also, Bullseye vs. Deadshot

Green Goblin vs. Luthor

Dormammu vs. Darkseid.

Dr.Strange vs. Zatanna. Or better yet, Dr.Strange vs. Dr.Fate.

Misty Knight vs. The Question(Rene Montoya).

Super-Skrull vs. Black Alice.

Nah, a fighting game would be better and more fun.

Btw, if a fighting game like this is ever made, don't expect to have both Hawkeye and Green Arrow or Quicksilver and Flash.

After all, in Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Punisher was excluded because he'd be to similar to Chris Redfield. The Thing had the same problem, since he'd be to similar to the Hulk.

Hawkeye and Green Arrow would have the same problem and the developers would probably want each character in the roster to stand out.
