That smell thing could very well be it although I wonder if it'll be that easy. I would expect there to be some sort of twist along the way unless the twist is that it really is that simple. Usually Aquarion's stories like to subvert one's expectations.

Another intriguing thing is the whole interaction between Zen Fudo and Mikono in earlier episodes. She feels uncomfortable around him (particularly noting the effect of his eyes), and he seems to accept her dislike of him with wry amusement (although I could've sworn there was some sort of regret in his eye when he looked at her and noted how she hasn't changed, but I could be misinterpreting his tone and look). I can't wait to learn more about what exactly is between the two that is causing such behaviour. If Mikono is in fact Silvia and Zen is Gen, the two reconciled to an extent at the end of the first series so the animosity can't stem from there. in any case I look forward to seeing further reveals as the story progresses. smile

So, new episode is out. Bananas! and all that.

Poor Andy.

It's also becoming harder and harder to get behind Mikono|Amata as the show's main couple. She is doing dick-all in the relationship while the poor guy is pining after her like a lovestruck puppy. Not that he's entirely blameless either, it's just hard to believe that she's that clueless or careless about the boy's feelings.

Yeah, so, I understand maybe half of what comes out of Zen's mouth on a good day, but those bananas were impressively cryptic even by his standards. I mean, I guess there was some phallic symbol stuff in there, but there was definitely more to it than that.

And at this point, there's no way they're not intentionally keeping Andy out of the action.

Was I the only one that smiled when we had a freaking Cherubim warp in? I know it's pretty obvious that ZEN had a hand in it, but it was amusing to see the kids go "OMG WTH is that?!?" when the weather changed as well.

No love for DFC Sazanka? Say it ain't so!

Poor poor Andy. On one side, his confession fell flat on its face. On the other, he seemed to have found the Aquarion. Why everyone seems to be saying that it's PART of the original Aquarion though begs to be seen.

Lots of fun stuff in this episode, and I'll leave it to the other folk to talk about.

They're saying it's part because what he hit was one of the links from the world-fixing mugen punch at the end of the first series, not the actual original Aquarion Genesis

yeah, I'll say it now. I'm also becoming really really hateful towards Mikono x Amata. Theyre just so excruciatingly annoying to watch compared to Zessica, Andy, Mix, etc.

especially because Mikono is such a goddamn doormat.

Well, here was the phallic symbolism (including the "rise against the sun" bits) then there's the fact that bananas (at least modern ones) are sterile (hence their comments about there being seeds in their bananas) lastly, according to good ol' Carl the banana (and not the apple) was the mythical "Fruit of Knowledge" in the Garden of Eden (note that the Bible just says it's a fruit) hence the latin name for banana: Musa paradisiaca.

Mixed Bath Union? Banana motifs? How do they come up with this stuff?

Oh man, that was a serious blow, Andy. How long will he be depressed about this?

I also support the Mikono x Amata pairing even less now. Zessica is just more sympathetic. Why she's going after an idiot like Amata is beyond me, but dammit, she's a sad underdog in this game of love and that pains me. Especially since she's losing to my least favorite character in the show.

Freakin' awesome mecha enemy this episode. What the hell was that anyway? Doesn't seem like it was an Abductor. Possibly a guardian of some sort?

I believe it's a Cherubim, which were the units used by the Shadow Angels in the original Aquarion.

[up][up] Oh, thanks. Wait, Shadow Angels? What are those?

[up] Yeah, I actually cringed when I saw that.

[down] Ah, thanks for the explanation!

They're the bad guys from Sousei. They're the same race as the original Apollonius, essentially a bunch of winged self-important douches from Atlandia who, because they were dying out, were abducting humanity to feed to the Tree of Life so that they could propagate again. Toma, their leader, could be seen in the previous episode's vision after the Super Dimensional Mugen Punch.

Yeah. That enemy this episode was DEFINITELY a shadow angel.

Its one of the major reasons I really enjoyed the fight.

[up][up]Well actully Toma was not leader. But he was main villan and in charge of taking down Aquarion. Also when they brought the tree back they were going to kill every Human because they did like them.

The leader of the Shadow Angels Johannes pretty much did nothing during the whole series other then look scary. However he did survive the series and escape with some of the other shadow angels.

It's actually meant that way... which boggles the mind at why the concept designers thought that a dress like that would work in reality. In the real world, the girl's nipples would likely be showing already, partly or wholely.

I was under the impression that Zessica had just taken a copy of her normal outfit and heavily modified it to look like that.

No, she took a look at Mikono's outfit and decided to go "mostly covered"... except for the breasts. Seriously, what the heck is with the boob hammocks?

That does not negate the idea of her new outfit being a heavily modified version of her old one. The two do look the same after all.

Her new outfit feels more like a sheer inversal of her old uniform.

I thought it was kinda disappointing how only three of the Shadow Angels really did anything. The other ones just sat around. Waste of some cool character designs.

This episode was um...confusing.

But in a good way. Although Zessica's new outfit (I hope its temporary) was very odd...I'm just going to assume it was skin colored and not a boob hammock...

I'm looking forward to next episode. Zessica having memory problems? And the episode title being Rare Igura? They are REALLY alluding to something big about her.

And yeah, screw Mikono. "You're holding the wrist of a girl who was obviously running away?! SCREW YOU AMATA!"

And of course...poor Andy.

And poor Aquarion Gepard, which I call Aquarion Worf or Aquarion Jobber.
