...God bless his soul. I just finished watching Paranoia Agent and all I can say is that it's the most fucked up yet brilliantly-written work I've seen in a while.

So uh... Satoshi Kon general thread.

i watched all of his works except his last film
he makes miyazaki and david lynch look like children
Paprika was my Gateway Series to animu so i owe a lot to him

This level of trolling is reasonable for Commander Obvious. What do you think of this, everyone?

I only got into his stuff recently, so I'm having some trouble acquiring his older works. Still haven't seen Perfect Blue. sad

I have only watched Paprika and Paranoia Agent so far. Paprika was great. Paranoia Agent was just average because while I liked the beginning and ending parts, the middle flat-out bored me.

I'm also an anime blogger.

Perfect Blue is Paprika in a horror situation
Millenium Actress is Paprika with Japanese cinematic history
Tokyo Godfathers is not Paprika, but its a good movie

So Satoshi Kon basically always remade Paprika, even before he made Paprika?

Well, I wouldn't know having only seen Millenium Actress, although I'm interested in his other works, except for Paranoia Agent (no, I'm not sure why I'm disinterested in that one).

People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.

That's oversimplification. All Satoshi Kon's movies tell a different story.

I just finished Paranoia Agent. I was beginning to accept the fact that it would require a rewatch... but then the final episode happened.

So Maniwa became the old man? Or his successor? Why end on a final shot of Maniwa himself appearing confused, or troubled? Did Tsukiko become a student all of a sudden? What became of all of the other Lil Slugger victims?

Did all of this happen because a little girl told a lie to protect herself? That is some Ju-On level sh-t right there.
