Who do you think would be the most 'out-there' pick they could add to Mario Kart? Like, someone nobody would expect. The franchise is pretty big, there could be somebody under our noses.
They already did ROB. And 8 also included several characters that aren't really Mario characters.
...Samus. I guess Samus is my answer.
But if I were to stick with Mario characters?... A Shine Sprite.
Honest, Link filled that challenge.
-Witty line-Guest characters are fun, but yeah, I kinda meant Mario characters specifically. I was thinking something along the lines of Foreman Spike or Stanley the Bugman.
On another note, with all the tracks MK8DX has been adding, I've been wondering how many older tracks haven't been retro-fied. It makes me wonder if Nintendo would ever consider porting over the arcade tracks for the next game. I know those tracks tend to be a bit simple, but they could do what the Tour tracks do and have the layout change between laps.
I think the weirdest character pick would have to be something that doesn't really register as a "character" yeah. So a powerup, maybe Thwimp or Thwomp, one of the Bowser statues, etc.
As for courses that haven't returned as Retro tracks yet, those would be...
- SNES Bowser Castle 2
- SNES Koopa Beach 1
- SNES Mario Circuit 4
- SNES Ghost Valley 3
- N64 Wario Stadium
- GBA Lakeside Park
- GBA Broken Pier
- GBA Rainbow Road
- GCN Mushroom City
- GCN Wario Colosseum
- GCN Bowser's Castle
- GCN Rainbow Road
- DS Figure-8 Circuit
- DS Bowser Castle
- DS Rainbow Road
- Wii Luigi Circuit
- Wii Toad's Factory
- Wii Mario Circuit
- Wii Bowser's Castle
- 3DS Wuhu Loop
- 3DS Maka Wuhu
- Most Wii U courses, technically
- Tour Rome Avanti
- Tour Piranha Plant Cove
- Tour Piranha Plant Pipeline
- All of Tour's RMX courses
...note that I'm counting Tour for this, too.

🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaI think it’s safe to say that the last of the tour courses will make their way into wave 6. We’re also definitely getting a rainbow road and hey look at Tour also having a Wii rainbow road ready to go.
There’s also Coconut Mall having advertisements for Dino Dino Jungle and Vanilla Lake so that’s probably getting pay off (even if I’d prefer nearly any other SNES and GNC track)
So with that there’s like only one track left that’s a complete enigma and until proven otherwise I’ll assume it’s figure 8 circuit so I can be pleasantly surprised.
My first thought for an obscure character was Merlon or similar from Paper Mario—then I realized that before they did any such thing, they’d include Paper Mario himself as a character first. On the one hand, yet another Mario alt, on the other, seeing how they’d animate the paper style in Kart would be interesting.
Meanwhile, I want Diddy Kong back in Wave 6.
My pick for an out-there character would be a Goomba Tower.
It's been 3000 years…has there ever been a playable goomba?
In Mario Kart? No. Baseball, yes.
if having no arms doesn't stop him from playing baseball I don't see why it should stop it from driving.
Super Mario Party had a Goomba as a playable character, and Dr. Mario World had three.
Ever wanted to see the most inexplicably horrifying intro to a game ever?I think they all have one, but it's shared. Somehow.
SoundCloudIs Super Mario Kart the first Mario game to have a female composer?
Edited by SoaringStarman on Jul 16th 2023 at 11:11:07 AM
AFAIK, yeah.
It seems like all the mainline Mario Kart games have had female composers, except Mario Kart 64. I’m surprised this fact isn’t brought up more.
How often do people discuss the OST of a Mario Kart game?
It's rare on rare.
Because even on videos of tracks, people only talk about whether or not they like the music.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I see people talking about Coconut Mall's music a lot.
Having taken a blue shell up the tailpipe right over the commode, I can now answer myself in the affirmative: Lakitu doesn’t pick you up until you splash into the toilet water.
I might have mentioned it before in the main Mario thread but imagine if Mario Kart 9 had each vehicle type be able to do an infamous technique.
- Karts can do snaking.
- Bikes are able to perform wheelies again.
- ATVs get to engage in firehopping once more.
Perhaps it could be exclusive to 150cc and beyond

Check out Rogues Gallery Transplant: The GameOne glitch I found years ago on Mario Kart 64 was when I had a star in effect and hit a CPU on top of the loop (the one circling the Giant star). They went off the track and then just stopped. Their icon never moved on the character map after that. It was weird.
-Witty line-Edit: Nobody really answered this question so I’ll acknowledge that they’re no longer adding new stuff to Tour

Check out Rogues Gallery Transplant: The GameFinal booster course pass wave launches November 9th.
Wow, can't believe they'd make such mistake like that.
