I have discovered hell. It is full of rainbows. And turtles driving really really fast.

Which one, the space station or the 16-bit track?

The second worst track for me would be Bone-Dry Dunes. There's several extremely sharp turns there, with the ramp jump and sudden sharp u-turn near the finish line being impossible for certain races to steer through, let alone while keeping top speed.

Space station. I can manage the other tracks at 200cc with some consistency (it helps that the AI sucks at that speed), but I keep falling off at about half the sharp turns, and I can't recover from too many of them.I'm pretty sure I did it on the original release, but it's stumping me right now.

I hated Bone Dry Ruins, but then they added in GBA Cheese Land and I got really f***ing angrier.

Sgt Ricko, it's like you took the words out of my mouth. Bone Dry dunes is probably my least favorite course in MK 8, in large part due to that turn. Hardest turn in the game IMO. The small dunes can throw off your turning a little bit too. Among my other least favorites are Cheese Land, Tick Tock Clock, and Rainbow Road (MK 8). Pretty much all the other courses are great, though.

[up][up]Really? I love Cheese Land! Especially since it has one of the jazziest songs in the entire soundtrack.

[up]That sure is a catchy tune. The entire Mario Kart 8 soundtrack is phenomenal, one of the best soundtracks ever IMO. Which is interesting, because I've generally thought Mario Kart soundtracks were dull. I guess I just love the jazz route that Mario has been taking as of late, but even the more electronic-y songs from MK 8 are fantastic.

Not only are the songs themselves phenomenal to listen to, but they are also really deep from a composition stand point, which is likely part of what makes them a great listen.

Cheese Land has grown on me over time, partly for difficulty and partly for just being fun to look at. And also partly for being difficult for everyone else- I remember having similar feelings for Grumble Volcano back in Wii.

Bone Dry Dunes, Ice Ice Outpost, and ...Hyrule Circuit are probably the only courses I outright dislike. The first one for reasons stated, and the second one for being a boring-looking course with nasty traction.

I know my opinion on the third one is unpopular, so if you have a problem with it then race me IRL m8

That third one is the shit, so lez go!

I agree that Bone-Dry Dunes sucks, though. It may be the only track in the game I dislike. The best ones are Electrodome, DK Jungle, and Rainbow Road 64, in my opinion. Especially DK Jungle, since I'm a big fan of Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong-related ephemera.

I can't believe we still can't drive three laps around Rainbow Road 64, as God intended.

Oh yeah, Rainbow Road 64 would be in my top 5 favorite tracks in the game easily if they hadn't butchered it like that. It's so short now, it's more anticlimax than epic finale, which is just so disappointing. I still enjoy it for the nostalgia value and being just plain fun, but it leaves me wanting every time I drive it.

As for tracks I do like, the F-Zero ones are great of course, and for some reason I've always been partial to Yoshi Circuit. Mount Wario is pretty brilliant too, though that one seems to be a common favorite.

And I would agree that GBA Cheese Land, while being kind of mediocre on its own, does have some awesome music.

Yeah, Bone Dry Dunes kinda sucks. I'm not a huge fan of the other desert level whose name I forgot or the Dolphin level either. My favorites are probably the F-Zero courses, Wario Mountain, and oddly enough, the Excitebike track.

Then if we're going by least favorites, those desert tracks are just kind of middle of the road for me, don't love em, don't hate em. I think my actual least favorite course is Grumble Volcano. I don't know, most of those MK Wii original tracks just aren't all that memorable to me, and the one that was (Coconut Mall) was already a retro track in 7.

Not a fan of the desert or Grumble Volcano personally.

I love the more colorful tracks, like N64 Rainbow Road or Electrodome.

I should probably clarify that I don't actively dislike any of the courses to the point I would refuse to play on them or anything. Mario Kart is Mario Kart after all. More like tracks I prefer to play more than others.

I love Bone Dry Dunes!! It's like, it's got sand and skeletons and stuff!! And it's got some nice music. I like it. I actually also love Grumble Volcano. And just, the more difficult tracks in general.

I love difficult tracks just as much as the next guy, but that sharp turn near the end of Neo Bowser City on 200cc can eat my ass.

[up]My build used to have an inside-drifting bike on Slick tires, and I can confirm it's a complete nightmare of a turn.

Moonview Highway's my personal vote for worst course in the series period, just for the record. I'm glad it hasn't come back yet.

Moon View Highway was so fucking pretty, though! surprised I didn't like Mario Kart Wii in general (although it did have Funky Kong), but I don't remember disliking that course in particular.

As for Grumble Volcano, I didn't care for it in MKWii itself, but it looks much nicer in MK8. Actually, in terms of aesthetic, every course looks fantastic.

[up] You got that right, even with the reimagined SNES and GBA tracks. It's fun to see the HD coat of paint added to tracks that used to exist only in Mode 7, especially if you've been playing the series since the SNES days like I have.

The "coats of paint" have been particularly amazing in Mario Kart 8. GBA Cheese Land and Ribbon Road look almost unrecognizable!

Speaking of unrecognizable, Toad's Turnpike doesn't feel like the same track to me.
