Septerra Core Legacy Of The Creator is an isometric role-playing game developed by Valkyrie Studios and released in 1999. The storyline is different from the storylines of many a game out there. You play as Maya, a resident from Shell 2. There are 7 shells in the game (indeed, "Septerra" is probably a clever Neologism referring to 7 regions). The basic storyline is about Maya trying to stop the evil warlord Doskias from Shell 1. Make no mistake, however. The journey from beginning to end is pretty different from a lot of games out there. I should know, because I played the game from beginning to end, and I consider this game my favourite. Has anyone who has played this game noticed that there are a number of Star Wars Shout Outs in it?

I recall it being an interesting game, but I dead ended at some point due to an unbeatable boss fight. Its been years since I played it, though.

I played this game when I was 12 or so, with a friend. I recall the battle ATB-ish battles were slow, but besides that it was pretty fun. I saw that it's only 5 bucks on Go G.com, so I may check it out in the near future, as I was actually just thinking about it a few days ago.

Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft instead

Hey, did you know that one of the characters, who is Gunnar, is voiced by none other than Steve Downes, the voice actor for Master Chief of Halo?

I played this when I was younger. I got it as part of a budget pack along with Shogo: Mobile Armor division (which I never got to run until years later). It was a really good JRPG with an interesting world, even better than a lot of what the east has produced. The combat was tedious (but no random encounters!) and so were some of the fetch quests (IIRC there were huge, brutal dungeons where your objective was to get something like a pice of bone or a little crystal for a lens. My memory might be exaggerating for me). This and the fact that it has very little music outside of battle and the world map irked me on my last playthrough but I do intend to replay it (and beat it!) some day (the fartest I ever got was to the chosen capital where I recall ghost rhinos and undead palette swap beetles having their way with me).

Also, if a sequel was ever made I would by it no questions asked.

That's because Halo's music composer Matrin O'Donnell also worked on Septerra Core and recommended Gunnar's voice actor.

Yeah, I think that Fetch Quest you're referring to is the one where you're trying to put Kyra's Mirror together. I have to agree that getting the parts for Kyra's Mirror is a long and involved process, to say nothing to getting other items in the game. This is one game where some Level Grinding probably won't hurt at some points.

I like how some of the boss fights in the game actually require you to think, and not just blindly wail on them. Final Fantasy ought to think about putting bosses that require some thinking to beat them in it.

I agree with you, if a sequel came out, I would buy it with no questions asked. The ending sure had a Sequel Hook to it. Unfortunately, I think Valkyrie Studios was shut down shortly after the release of Septerra Core. So I get the feeling that a sequel may never see the light of day.

There is only fan sequel Septerra Core Dream About the Past. It's 2D RPG. You can find trailer on youtube. English version should be done on December 2011

Holy...! I didn't think such a thing would happen!

I saw the trailer on You Tube. I like what I'm seeing! I'll be honest and say that the English is a little flawed, with spelling mistakes and things like that, but I can still understand what's being said.

The plotline presented in this fan sequel certainly raises some questions. I was led to believe that Selina and Doskias died at the end of Legacy of the Creator. Maya's fate seemed ambiguous in Legacy of the Creator, because she either died of her injuries and became a Watcher (like Layla), or she survived that, died at a later point in time and then became a Watcher. Clearly, Kaleb, Doskias, Selina and Maya are alive and well. Also, there's the fact that Septerra managed to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, which has three other planets.

With all that said, my hat's off to you, Neko! I truly believe Septerra Core deserves a sequel, and I know for a fact that one of the people involved in making the game said that there won't be a sequel. At least this game will get a Fan Sequel! [awesome] grin

I'm happy, that you like it. Well, the spelling will be better, because now english person helps me with translation. In this sequel everything will be said that Selina and Doskias were rescued just before their end. Maya survived, you can see that on the last movie of original game. And yes, there are other three planets, but there is just jungle on them (one is in process of building cities). Unfortunatelly I had just a little support with graphics, and that's all. I had to do everything alone. You can end the game in 10+ hours, and there will be two ways you can chose. So, there'll be two endings.
