Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.

  • This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
  • While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
  • Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

Since Thor and now Captain America came out this year, I wanted to get what Tropers thought of the concept and execution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general. Personally I love the idea and wonder why this idea hasn't been seriously tried before. It sorta seems to me like the DCAU in movie form (And well, ummm, with Marvel), and really 'gets' the comic book feel of a shared universe while not being completely alienating.

If Coulson is in both teams, but nobody else is in both, that means Ao S should be Dino Thunder, with Couson as Tommy Oliver.

Speaking of which, does anyone know where I can marathon the second season of Agents of Shield for free? I'd like to see it for myself.

It's on abc.com, though without a cable subscription (or knowing what your login info is) you have to wait a week to see the newest episode, and only the 4 latest episodes are available.

[up]anyone else? Thor consider him just another person,Stark is more impress with Banner genius and the rest are indiferent(except loki but because he want to use him) of course it was something of a plot line the whole widow-hulk thing

You're mixing up Bruce (the guy that's one of the Science Bros.) and Hulk (the big green monster Bruce turns into). Widow was afraid of Bruce turning into Hulk and smashing her, the shack, the surrounding agents, and city.

[up][up]The Hulk didn't want to kill them. Banner already resented Black Widow's continued presence around him, as she already drafted him into this at gunpoint no less, so you can imagine that had been bubbling up for some time, all it took was Loki pushing him in the right direction...

Well, Thor doesn't really count, because he is an alien. The Hulk can smash him into the wall or, like Loki, multiple times into the ground, and he would be able to walk away after it. Natasha would as good as death after the first hit. And Tony never really encountered the Hulk on a rampage, and even if he did, he has the armour.

But I think her conduct concerning the Hulk is even more impressive because she is more vulnerable and clearly afraid. Despite her fear she rather sends the guy who wants to help her when her leg is trapped away, rather than endangering him, too. She tries to talk Bruce down instead of concentrating on breaking free, until it is clear that he is truly loosing control.

Ooh, Someone did Lightspeed Rescue with the Avengers and it works perfectly!

Sorry, the perfect combination of two of my biggest loves make me giddy.

So yeah, I'm sort of with Swanpride, considering what the Hulk is, Natasha's conduct is extremely impressive.

It seems to be a thing on the internet, usually using the MMPR theme (still the best of all Power Rangers themes).

Ah, it was a different one, and also really fun.

Hmm... For anyone who has played Marvel Vs Capcom 3 and heard Wolverine's theme...here's a mix from the Over 9000/Balls Are Inert/Ninja Info Cards guy.

On that subject, did Disney kill Marvel vs Capcom? I'm just wondering since the last game was released in 2012 and since Disney acquired the property, there haven't been anymore new games.

[up] It takes a lot to make a stew...

I doubt Disney killed MVC, since MVC 3 Vanilla was released in 2011, 2 years after Disney acquired Marvel in 2009.

Found another mashup. Lol at the ranger matchups.

Just made from scenes from trailers, and uses Power Rangers In Space as opposed to Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, but you get the point:

There were two new cosmic Marvel heroes in UMVC 3. There was the most famous of them all at the time:

and then there was a guy who got in because the book he was part of was a fan favorite(and maybe because they were throwing around ideas of making a movie with him in it).

On that subject, did Disney kill Marvel vs Capcom?

Unlikely, considering Disney owns both of them.
