Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

I didn't find DOFP that good, so I'll probably just stick with the MCU.
I did like their version of Quicksilver, though.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! It's probably not worth comparing what each studio does with their Quicksilver. Fox's version can afford to be more goofy, but the Twins' origins in this one means that he will probably be a bit more serious and well, Eastern European.
Their only commonality is that they both look kind of silly.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectAs long as the costume is better. DOFP Quicksilver was funny, but his design made him look less like Quicksilver and more like a trick-or-treater wearing a hastily-made Quicksilver costume.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Ao S is currently cool on its own...which is a welcome surprise. I look also forward to Agent Carter. There hasn't been a good Comic series with a female lead since Wonder Woman in the 70th, and that one doesn't hold up particularly well nowadays.
I hope that the trailer will come with another good episode and that it might generate enough interest in the show to push the ratings a little bit. I don't think that the show is in danger of cancellation, but it is too bad that so many people gave up on it before it hit its stride.
Because he wasn't wearing a costume, just his regular street clothes.
(V)(;,,;)(V)Apparently Myeh-Myeh is smart, and the Coat Hangar isn't as worthy as we thought.
Also, commentary on "why don't the Avengers team up in the solo movies?"

The sad, REAL American dichotomyNow I'm imagining Odin with an overly long list of rules for Mew Mew.
‘My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’Honestly the "why don't they team up" question never really bothered me too much, because the Avengers in the MCU are not all living in New York but are spread all over the world (and in Thor's case beyond). They barely know each other (well, I guess there is now some sort of friendship between Tony and Bruce, and Steve and Natasha and naturally Natasha and Clint). It did bother me during Iron Man that S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn't act when the president is kidnapped, or during Thor that S.W.O.R.D has apparently no defence to speak off, but generally I don't expect the Avengers to pop up just because one of them has a problem or is on a mission.

Does S.W.O.R.D even exist in the MCU?
"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des UrsinsS.W.O.R.D was created and first showed up in X-Men. Probably not.
Yeah I think FOX has the rights.
They are probably going to be used as a SHIELD stand in when they tie the FF and X-Men movies together.
"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des UrsinsAren't the Fantastic Four liked despite having powers? How does the Fantastic Four being liked, while the X-Men are hated even though they do Good, work?
(V)(;,,;)(V)It's kinda why the X-men can only exist as a separate entity from the rest of the Marvel Universe, because once they're included in everything else, it becomes so fucking stupid.
My various fanfics. That's exactly the reason why I prefer the X-Man as their own universe, not crossing with any of the others.
S.W.O.R.D was mentioned in a deleted scene of Thor, so unless I am told otherwise, I assume that they exist in the universe.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. In theory the idea could be that the Fantastic Four aren't a danger of outbreeding and driving normal humans extinct.
Still stupid though.
"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des UrsinsWhich one? Link if its on youtube.
Edit: The Avengers seems to be in conflict with the X-Men more than FF is.

Its all the dumb 'being replaced' stuff not helped by the 'extinction gene' stuff which was probably furiously retconned as soon as Morrison went away.
Stupid hoomans, mutants may replace you but they're coming from your loins. Your children will replace you but that is always the way.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe Fantastic Four would fit better in the MCU either way...not that I miss them specifically, but the Silver Surfer would be a great character to let hop around between Earth, Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Don't have a link, but the one which was supposed at the very end, when Jane sends a "message" to Thor. Before they cut to the rood Selvig mentions something about data they got from S.W.O.R.D

Joe average is worried their children will be driven extinct. Once they have a mutant child or family member the dynamic might change slightly.
Of course that would be a rational cause for fear in real life. In the Marvel universe the average citizen is just an awful person.
"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des UrsinsOkay, I wasn't expecting Ultron to have irises. I get the feeling he's going to have some terrifying facial expressions.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.
I'm sticking with Marvel, mostly because I'm invested at this point, and mostly out of a sense of self-preservation. If I even attempt to watch another series of comic book connected universe films I'll probably flame out.
Also, the Age of Ultron Trailer will be on Agents of Shield, so that's cool.
