Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

Disney Reveals ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Cost More To Make Than ‘Avengers 2’
Fun fact. $414.9 million is actually a higher budget than Avatar 2: Way of water.
Though the UK give a 25% reimbursement if the film is shot in the UK. So the total is actually $350.6 million. Which is still incredible.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."No, it isn't. I was a bit drunk at the time of posting that, and didn't really read/think what you said all the way through.
I love George Miller. I love Marvel. But some things aren't compatible no matter how bad you want it to be.
Trust no one.George Miller could totally do Thor. Enough has been written about the thematic spectacle of Fury Road but Three Thousand Years of Longing shows that he is interested in musing about the weight of mythology.
x3 So it barely broke even?
Mileena MadnessI have no doubt that George Miller would be interested in Thor, and would bring a lot of ideas to the table. But he's very much an auteur, and Marvel is getting really bad with its Executive Meddling lately. I don't trust the studio not to butcher his vision.
Trust no one.Nah it did alright. 955.8 million is alright on a 350 million dollar budget. It's at least way over the 2,5 rule.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Were they intentionally budgeted to that amount does it say? I can't remember where but I think I read that having to film and re-film in the pandemic made costs grow a lot.
“Guardians 3 did end with a splash screen that said THE LEGENDARY STAR LORD WILL RETURN.”
Going for something more bombastic than just STAR-LORD WILL RETURN but then putting it over sounds of him eating cereal with his granddad makes it unclear how serious that was.
I hoenstly can see rocket coming back. But everyone else is unlikely.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I mean, it was obviously played as a joke. But they literally said he will return.
I could see that. I could see all the Dr. Strange movies being more expensive than the average film in general. They're extremely CGI and effects heavy in a way most of the MCU isn't.
Avengers 2 has a CGI character for a villain, but otherwise its effects are largely practical and maybe most of its budget went to things like casting.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Indeed. Bringing back Patrick Stewart isn't something you can do with chump change.

Trust no one. There was a brief new announcement about the Agatha show. Another new title:
They took it down, of course. All I know for sure is that it reminds me of the first Owl House episode.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Okay, I'm officially convinced that the Agatha show constantly changing titles really is a joke/marketing gimmick. There's no chance in hell something that ridiculous would be an actual show name.
Which now ironically makes me a bit more interested in what this could be about, even if I still think it's weird and unnecessary.

Trust no one.I really want them to do a thing where every single episode of the show has features a completely different title.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Have the other names been references to literature and I just haven't noticed? Because this one is obviously a reference to The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.
It’d be funny if all the episodes titles are the constantly switched names they had. “It was definitely a thing we planned all along”

Pantheon server for all who click here. Freaking lost $410 and I am hunting down for a nuke to reign down.I saw online that one of the titles is supposedly a reference to Mare of Easttown. Having watched the show myself, I can't find any connection to it, other than the fact that Evan Peters was in that show and WandaVision.
Trust no one.I think that all or most have been references to other works, of various degrees of obviousness—but not necessarily all to literature.
For example, "Darkhold Diaries" may be a reference to "The Vampire Diaries", while I'd guess that "House of Harkness" might reference "The Fall of the House of Usher".

My Games & WritingThere was a leaked photo from the set, and the director's chair said "Agnes of Westview".
I'm 10,000% sure that it's going to have a different name and probably gimmick every episode.
In which case, I wonder what title it'll display as on Disney+, or if they'll fiddle with the code so it lists the show as a different title each time you open the app.
It'll probably just be Agatha, with the unique names just episode titles and nothing else.
You and I remember Budapest very differently...Man, I really hope they don't have Scarlet Witch actually killed off, and that she's able to finally debut in high octane action again. They finally gave her a worthy comic accurate outfit, only to just then have her destroy herself?
Robin: Don't ever ask me to dock with you again. Serious...I remember the ideas for mutant society to already to exist in the MCU is Professor X mindwiping people of mutant existence. Then I had the funny thought that you could use it retcon so much. Maximoff parents? Mindwiped to forget theyre Magneto’s kids. Them not doing anything in in Endgame? Mutants were there and Xavier mindwiped their presence. The entirety of Secret Invasion? Boom, mindwiped.

Speaking of Thor, George Miller said in an interview that he would be interested in directing Thor 5. That would be an interesting choice. Just as long as he’s given a good script (or at least a minimalistic one).
