Is it time for a new Twin Peaks?

Yes. Depending on what you mean by a new Twin Peaks, I'd still say yes to both. I think the series should continue. There was supposed to be two more films after Fire Walk With Me, but the film was too poorly received (even though it rocks). Still, Lynch clearly had ideas expanding on the mythology. And the series ended with the most annoying cliff-hanger ever. The Man from Another Place referred to "25 years later" in the final episode, so why not show us what that meant, 25 years later? What happened to Cooper/Bob, what became of the other characters, how did Twin Peaks as a town adapt to the 21st Century? No shortage of material, and I think there's a chance of this happening, however small. Lynch said recently he considered a return to television. If that's true, maybe this time there'll be less Executive Meddling...

If by a new Twin Peaks you mean a show in the same spirit, I'd be positive to that as well, although it would almost require Lynch/Frost in order to truly be on the level of the original.

I'd hope so.

So many people claim that The Wire is the greatest tv show of all time, and whilst it truly is an excellent series, I think that if a tv series is going to deserve such a title it should utilise all of the aspects of the medium.

At it's best Twin Peaks did this, combining writing, acting, music, direction into a surreal masterpiece. And yet there are too many flaws in the series, the middle of season 2 being barely watchable, for it to be the greatest series ever.

Twin Peaks done right would be amazing.

I actually never finished Season 2. I know Daddy Palmer raped his daughter while possessed by BOB, but that's about it. I hear the show got a Gainax Ending to rival the Trope Namer.
