Uh... Huh?: Due To The Dead

Even if this painting does show the trope, I think it'd be better to have one that didn't involve squinting or screen magnification to see how.

We definitely need to find a better pic...not supporting a pull right away, though; at least you can see a casket there.

I think frames 1 and 4 of this Questionable Content◊ would work, but the size and spacing is a problem

I played with it and the text is almost illegible at 350 px.

Here's an idea: what about a three-panel collage showing Klingons howling to Stokavor◊, Vader's funeral pyre◊, and a simple funeral◊ from Six Feet Under, with the caption mentioning the different means of doing the due.

I hate to say it but the Vader one doesn't add anything — all it shows is the corpse burning, it needs to show the people in attendance (which in Vader's case, was only Luke) to communicate that it's a ritual.

I don't know... a pyre is a somewhat common metod to dispose of the dead. Maybe Qui Gon's funeral◊ would make for a better example, but I think just the pyre and Vader works too.

Quigon's is better; you can't see the body in the burning, but it's pretty clear that it's a ritual ... as long as you don't think of it as people gathered around some generic fireplace. Oops.

Yyyyeah... we're better off with Vader after all.

I thought about using the pic of Luke and the pyre, but all of the pics that GIS turns up for that are shit quality. I don't think that the Qui-Gon pyre scene would resize well enough to show it as well as the Vader scene, plus there's the "generic fireplace" thing going on with it as well.

EDIT: Eh, it's worth a shot...I'll play around with the Qui-Gon scene and see what I can come up with.

Same issue as Qui Gonn's, you can't see what's going on in the Pyre... Which is why I'm liking the one with just Vader better ATM.

Maybe it's possible to crop the Link/Vader shot (say, Link's waist up) so that the Vader part (barely visible atm) is larger?

I'm pretty much screwed for working on pics tonight due to iTunes jacking up my desktop...I dunno if 's gonna change anything about that scene, though, as Vader's body's not very clear in the full size shot IIRC.

I played around with the full size pic, and it's just not all that apparent that there's anything in the pyre in the full shot with Luke regardless of the cropping.
