^My body is so ready. According to someone who went to the Canadian premiere, it's actually really good, so I got high hopes.

It's positively _stunning_!

It truly _does_ help if you're familiar with samurai/geisha culture and the tenets of Bushido. Most of the people who've reviewed it, thus far, seemingly are not... and even the ones who've loved the film/characters just plain didn't "get it", sad to say.

Conversely, my husband, myself, and roughly a dozen family and friends who've watched it thus far (and all _are_ familiar with such aspects of Japanese culture) had no difficultly following this film, and were deeply moved, and entertained (especially by Demi Moore's character — she's really quite complex, and a major catalyst for the plot), beginning to end. Mind you, only my husband and I even knew who Gackt was *lol* so, no one else could be accused of such a fan-motivated bias smile

I do not wish to toss up any spoilers, though there's been enough revealed in the posted reviews, thus far. So, I won't go into detail unless anyone wishes to discuss the movie further. But, yes... I _DO_ suggest boning up on your Japanese culture (particularly honor, the aforementioned code of Bushido, and the role geisha have played [particularly in political manipulations] in history).

Trust me, you will not be disappointed by "Bunraku", if you do! grin
