In Cyber Sleuth, Kuwagamon can learn a inheritable skill called Destruction Cannon so i'm just equating that move to the one Kuwagamon used in Tri.
The Digimon shoots out a ball of dark energy so i say they're very similar in appearance and function.

Based on what TFRazorsaw said at the top of the page, I'd imagine the director of the episode was told that Kokatorimon had an attack called "petra fire" that turned things to stone, but wasn't told that it fired it from its eyes.
That or They Just Didn't Care.

They could have watched an old episode to fucking check!!!!!
I'll burn everything! That's the price of inaccuracy! People suffer now!
I hope that dude is happy! I hope he's very happy!
One Strip! One Strip!Saw Confession.
Overall I'd probably say it's been the best movie so far. Both of the previous films were decent but they had certain noticeable flaws that sorta dragged them down. But this film doesn't really have anything like that.
Also, that's Machinedramon in the Loss poster isn't it?
Yes.
And yeah, Confession is awesome for what an huge Wham Moment it is, exemplified in Tentomon digivolving to Hercules-Kabuterimon. In the past (going back to even the last movie), evolving to a new form was a huge Crowning Moment Of Awesome that saw the new digimon promptly rip whoever he or she was fighting ten or twenty new ones, turning the tide, and saving the day while Brave Heart plays. In this....Tentomon can't save the day, and he can only make his friends snap out of their insanity long enough for them to have their memories erased. He fails. But it's still awesome because at that point, things were so bad that even doing that much is something. That's very, very new, not just for Adventure, but even for Digimon as a whole. Evolution did nothing. It couldn't turn things around. It could only put a hasty bandaid on things until it was all wiped out.
Still I look forward to Hercules Kabuterimon actually getting to do attacks.... and I gotta admit, I'm curious to see how Jeff—everyone blames me for everything that happened in the dub version—Nimoy will handle that scene. It's gonna be a big one, so well see if he can do it justice.
One Strip! One Strip!Just finished watching Tamers. Still a damn good show but I think I prefer the original Adventure to it. I'll probably watch the Tamers movie (movies?) next then get caught up on Tri.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!So there's a nice bit of Fridge Brilliance that I came across for Confession that I just added to the Fridge section for Digimon Adventure Tri:
A sort of dark Fridge Brilliance: When do things start going wrong for the good guys during the battle with Meicrackmon? When Angemon, who's crest is Hope, succumbs to the Virus. From that point, the digimon start turning on a dime until only Tentomon is left. When Angemon fell, they quite literally lost any hope of preventing the Reboot.
I really like this one.
One Strip! One Strip!I think I'll start watching the Tamers movies and start Frontier sometime I wait for the next tri movies to be dubbed. What's the general opinion on Frontier?
"Strategy? Spacing? I just keep punching until I hit something." - Sol BadguyFrom what I've seen not as well liked due to falling apart after the first part kinda like 02
Frontier has its fans, but the majority opinion is that Frontier is one of the weaker seasons. You'll see lots of debate over the merits of the first 30-ish episodes of the season, but even among Frontier fans, it's generally agreed that the story arc leading up to the finale (though not necessarily the final episode itself) is one big, steaming mess.
I personally fall into the "This season has no redeeming qualities" camp, so I'll leave it at that.
Kinda decent 'till episode 37, then 10 episodes of pretty much the same stuff happening over and over, then a great finale.
Digimon Frontier had the smallest cast of two people. Rumor has it there was originally gonna be four more people, with the sixth being a former baddie, but as far as the show goes, it's just the two.
I mean Takuya and Ko(u)ji getting more focus than everyone else isn't any different than Adventure doing the same for Tai and Matt, 02 with TK and Davis which eventually became Ken and Davis, Savers with Masaru and Touma, and Xros Wars with Taiki and Hiriha so...

Actually, while giving the two main characters more focus and evolutions than the rest of the cast was always a thing in Digimon, you have to admit Frontier exaggerated that to such an extent the others seasons up this point didn't.
They not only managed to combine both their human and beast spirits into one, but also got another form that required the entire cast to surrender their power to them, downgrading everyone else to cheerleader status. And even if that wasn't enough already, we also have Susanomon as a crowner.
At least Dukemon's ang Agumon's mode changes in both Tamers and savers were one time things that only happened in their last battles, so it isn't that bad.

I think the main thing with Frontier was that the Mid Season Power Up sidelined the other main characters. In other seasons (I can't say anything about Xro Wars or beyond because I haven't seen it), the other main characters still had their Ultimates to fight alongside the protag and the lancer, or in the case of Savers they all had Megas and Burst modes, so they could keep up.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I like Jeff Nimoy. But that's because I like the dub, and Tentomon in particular. I realized on rewatch that all of the partners were great, for different reasons especially, but Tentomon and Gomamon were among the best in how they play off their partners.
As for the Japanese version of Confession... it seems like Agumon has no personality beyond "I'm hungry". Was that always the case? Was giving him an actual personality an invention of the dub?
As for the digivolution in the movie... Hercules Kabuterimon indeed. Strong enough to take on 5 champions (including Angemon), 2 ultimates (Meicrackmon and Angewomon) and a mega (War Greymon). Even though he didn't get total victory, he still got what he needed to accomplish, getting them out of the real world.
The sad, REAL American dichotomySpeaking of tri, Mimi looks cuter in this series than she did in the previous two.
I like to keep my audience riveted.
I was impressed by that as well. And Wargreymon should be a lot stronger then him (though not being a dragon probably saved at least a little) so it's quite the feat. We also have to remember the the infection seems to boost power as well, which makes it even more impressive.
As for Agumon, I don't re-call him being so obsessed with food in either version. He was certainly pretty stuck on it in this.
I'd also like to say that I liked the scene where the digimon were all talking under the bridge (with the reveal of Patamon being infected, and their discussion about the the potential reboot). In most cases, the Digimon have really been extensions of their human partners (Tailmon / Gatomon being the only one with any form of history from before meeting Hikari / Kari) so seeing them get this extended scene together (and seeing them later try to spend time with their partners while they can) was pretty cool.

One Strip! One Strip!I don't really recall even recall Adventure and 02 even having many moments of just the Digimon talking. tri. seems to taking advantage of some cool character interactions. I'm mean Matt/Mini and Izzy/TK in are hardly ever talked together in Adventure so it's kinda nice to see that.
35 year old white man.My issues with the Frontier 'mons, pretty much.◊
Seriously, they could have used the fused hybrids to make the final arc more bearable.
It probably would have helped, but then we would have had to endure that freaking penguin. None of the other hybrids looks that derpy. Also, am I the only one who thinks that RhinoKabuterimon should have been the beast spirit and Bolgmon/MetalKabuterimon the fusion hybrid?

it also turned things to stone, instead of blowing things up
My name has nothing to do with Psychonauts.
