Renamed the thread. I decided that just going with Evil Dead would be easier
Macron's notesThanks for that!
How we feeling about that new trailer, fellas? Or are you guys waiting for it to be daylight outside?
Christing hell, the cheese grater...
I'm delighted at the new trailer, and have to praise this movie for going along with the notion of making Deadites scary again. Without Ash to just mow them down, these things are absolutely, pitch terrifying to civilians. Something that was never human, is fast, almost indestructible, wantonly sadistic and in the skin of someoen you love.
Absolutely psyched for this
Positive reviews(if not quite raves) coming out of SXSW, where the movie premiered last night.
Apparently, there was also a heckler who insulted the cast and crew to their faces and was told off by Bruce Campbell. The hell.
Anyway, 64 on Metacritic(three positive reviews and one negative), 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Just saw this over the weekend and it absolutely slapped
I saw it on Friday, I was expecting it to be a bit more.
You and I remember Budapest very differentlyI still prefer the 2013 film, but this one was still a very solid entry, and I really liked the opening and how that wrapped around.
Rise was a romp. To date, there's never been a bad Evil Dead movie, really just remarkable consistency of quality for any movie series, let alone a horror franchise. Even the stage musical is good!
If I'm being honest Alyssa Sutherland as Elle is 75% of the reason I dug it. Wasn't surprised to learn she said Jim Carrey in The Mask was a big inspiration for her performance. Probably the most fun I've seen anyone have playing a Deadite.
This was also easily the most upsetting Evil Dead for involving kids the way it does, and thoroughly avoiding Infant Immortality.
So...I think we should seriously consider renaming this thread into "Evil Dead in general" or something.
Because we got the trailer for the brand new installment:
EVIL DEAD RISE
No colon, no Ash Williams, no mercy!
Seriously, Weirdguy149 went on the record saying the trailer has "some screwed-up shit in here." Better watch with the lights on!
And if you are truly groovy and brave of heart, here's the red band trailer!
