Doesn't really focus on the native: Badass Native

Okay, so we have a Native American doing something badass, which fits the trope. The problem is that the picture is too small and Nightwolf isn't the central element, he's just off to the side. It's the right idea, but we need a better picture.

Agree, should probably find something better. I'm going to half heartedly suggest we pull it.

2 isn't particularly good IMO. Besides which, natives don't have blond hair, so it just looks like a Dark Skinned Blonde is playing dressup.

I say either the first Shadow Hearts one or the first one of Nightwolf. The others would be JAFAAC - it can't just be a native, they have to be obviously badass.

Perhaps something of the Na'vi using bows and arrows in mid-air might be an idea?

Just throwing that out there. The Nightwolf pics suggested in this thread seem pretty good too, (though I'd suggest avoiding the one with Mileena in it because her figure's pretty distracting) as does the first of Raso's Shadow Hearts pics.

I voted for Navi #2 and Nightwolf #2. The Shadow Hearts guy looks the trope, but using a modern weapon dilutes the native part, while Nightwolf looks the most obviously native (at least in #2) and Neytiri looks almost as native and is using a more clearly native weapon.

I can't really tell how "modern" those revolvers are, but historically Native Americans did use guns. Not that unusual to see an Indian with cowboy revolvers or Winchesters.

It can be cropped out, but it's gonna leave a white spot in the pic unless the entire background's taken out.

I don't think that's all that well known, though. In any case, use of guns clearly takes away from the "native" feel of it.

The crowner's four days old...we generally let them run for a week or so unless the leader's got a huge margin over the others. Right now the top three are tied at +2.

Alrighty, we got a winner. The new pic is up, potholed to Mortal Kombat (which one's it from?), and tagged, and the Image Links page is up. Caption or no?

That would be Armageddon. For the caption, it might play on the contrast between the relatively calssic tomahawk-wielding native and the obvious high-tech background in the pic... I can't think of a witty one ATM though.
