Then you recalled incorrectly. I reread that chapter and all she said/though was 'I don't have to worry about looking young'.

Incidentally, while searching for that, I stumbled across Sasuke claiming that 'this situation', aka the Fourth War, was of the Kage's making.

Uchiha Sasuke: Blaming others for his own actions and getting praised for it.

Incidentally, I found the translation you might have read. She says that she doesn't need to use it to look young.

I trust you understand how nonsensical and out of nowhere that line is, and I distinctly remember the first translation that went up having Sakura wonder if Sasuke saw her be useful for once. Wouldn't surprise me if they changed it due to a firestorm that ensued over Sakura being worthless.

By the by, the monster that walks in on Sakura is huge, and she gets plenty of time to act, but she just stands there looking at it. She also has to turn back around to face it. She's standing sideways in the panel in which the monster in front of her is revealed, implying that she was either interrupted while turning around or turned around again.

It makes sense because she's noting how the jutsu won't have the same negative effects on her.

Also that smoke cloud was huge it could have easily hidden it.

Oh, I'm not saying she should've seen it. I'm saying she should've heard it. Or felt the tremors on the loose rocks that are left from her punch as it moved. Or just noticed as it disturbed the smoke around it.

Sakura is a trained ninja. Hell, Sakura is probably the single best trained ninja in the entire show, because she has the least incompetent teacher in the entire manga. Well, second least incompetent, Ebisu is still the single best teacher introduced in this manga.

But she didn't notice it at all. And even when she did, instead of just using that same strength to punch it into the stratosphere, she just... stood there, waiting to be saved.

Furthermore, Sakura's words there were clearly a reply. To whom? Who knows? Because nobody actually talks. Naruto and Shizune have some thought words, yes, but they don't actually talk to her. Plus, it looks like she's replying to Shizune's thoughts, which she could not possibly have heard. And I have to ask: What exactly was the reason to bring that up? Not to mention it's also factually wrong. Tsunade doesn't use the seal to look young. She actually aged prematurely because of it. Looking young while using it is a side effect, because Tsunade maintains her youthful appearance through other means unless she's actually using it, at which point she does not need to.

And the next time she has dialogue, what does she say?

"Sasuke-kun!"

When he jumps in to save her ass.

Honeslty, I've felt Sakura had already passed the point of no return when she lies to Naruto about loving him during the Five Kages Summit arc as an attempt to erase his promise to bring Sasuke back.

It really shows how little she's grown if she feels that the most she has to offer someone to change their mind is...herself. Like, that's how little resolve she thinks Naruto has. She's just going to dangle herself in front of him and expect him to change his mind about something that's so important to him. It was really disgusting and full of all sorts of Unfortunate Implications. Shame on you Kishimoto.

But, the whole Sakura-Sasuke tangle aside, I'm liking my time back in the Naruto-verse. I'm mercilessly skipping any episode that has even the whiff of filler so I'm moving fairly quickly through the story.

Gotta hand it to him though, he was consistent in his characterization of Sakura as a horrible wretch.

Just finished Lighting Up The Dark. So good. Well done Rational fic is such a joy to read.

*sigh* Why are the best fanfictions so slow to update? Is it natural law of the world that the quality of a fiction is inversely proportional to the author's desire to finish it?

Yep.

Crappy fanfic is often the result of people not really thinking things through, so they just fart it out quickly. Writing something of a higher quality requires a suitably higher amount of time and effort.

Oh yeah, I definetly agree. I'm more talking about how a lot of great fanfic authors tend to abandon their projects sometimes because Real Life Ensues.

It's bound to happen of course. I'm just grumbling because I want to read the rest, logic be damned.

Well, he did make his promise to bring Sasuke back...to her.

The fact she makes a false confession of love to make Naruto back out is what is truly dishonorable.

Anyway, Naruto called her out on that, so I don't see the big deal.

However, Naruto still angsting over Sasuke is still pathetic.

Dishonorable and dishonest though it might be... at least she's trying to get Naruto to drop a promise that has done nothing but hurt pretty much everyone.

Sasuke doesn't want to come back. Konoha doesn't want Sasuke back. Trying to bring Sasuke back is causing pain to everyone.

And in the end, it was a completely, utterly and absolutely pointless struggle because Naruto was not the one who made Sasuke return to Konoha, it was the four Hokage. And then he had a change of heart again just so there could be a 'final fight' between Naruto and Sasuke that ended in a draw even though Naruto should've stomped all over his face, but that's beside the point.

This is definitely the reason why its taking me so long to write new chapters.

This is why we need to invent necromancy, so we can revive Isaac Asimov to write Naruto fanfics.

Anyone read fics by black.k.kat? They're pretty good. So is A Drop of Poison, they had a creative usage of clones. Also anyone noticed the increase of SI fanfics inspired by Dreaming of Sunshine?

That trend's been going on for a while.

If there's one thing that always make me roll my eyes it's people attacking Naruto like Hiashi. I mean, if they're not serious they're treading the line between what is probably illegal assault with ninja powers and accidentally making him spaz out and releasing the tailed beasts chakra which could end up with a lot of injury and damage.

Or if they are serious they still risk his spazzing out even worse, completely releasing the fox in the middle of the village, or if they manage to kill him they'd get executed by the Hokage for destruction of valuable government superweapons.

It's always stupid.

The ANBU would stop you immediately. Nobody wants Naruto to be pissed off to the point he no longer places the need to live above the need to lay waste to Konoha.

Konoha not being a smoking crater depends vitally on Naruto holding back the Kyuubi. If he doesn't, then Konoha will go boom in short order. And I doubt that they're going to be able to seal it away without Kushina to hold it in place.
