Just ran into a problem.

Working on the Terry Pratchett Discworld page for the novel "Night Watch", there was an advice notice that severalentries needed to move from Main to the YMMV page. I started doing this only to discover that for some reason, the link led to the YMMV page of a wholly unrelated book also called Night Watch.

And this is beyond my competence to fix. How do we sort out ambiguities like this?

The YMMV for Terry Pratchett's "Night Watch" main page https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Discworld/NightWatch

for some reason leads here, to the Russian "night Watch" novels' YMMV https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/YMMV/NightWatch Thanks for your help!

There is also a book about lesbians in ww2 called Night Watch as well. I think I might become nocturnal, there is just so much to be seen after sunset it seems.

Okay, now to further add to my collective of How To's, I'm going to make a hard split for the page. What articles do I need to make so I know what pages to point to.

Subpages like YMMV are shared across all namespaces for a given title, so Main.Night Watch and Discworld.Night Watch both point to the same YMMV page.

There are two solutions you can take here. The first is that you can soft-split the page, making a section for the Discworld books and a section for the russian novels.

Second, you can create new YMMV pages with some kind of qualifier in the title to distinguish them, such as YMMV.Night Watch Pratchett and YMMV.Night Watch Lukyanenko, then turn YMMV.Night Watch to a disambiguation page that links to both.

No don't solve it, let me do it so I can take screen shots!

Okay, so I need to break up YMMV.Night Watch and move the thingies onto YMMV.Night Watch Pratchett, YMMV.Night Watch Lukyanenko and what else? Or would it be Night Watch Discworld?

I'd say Discworld rather than Pratchett since we already have a discworld namespace for the series.

Hm, I'm thinking it would be best to use Night Watch Discworld and Night Watch Series or Night Watch Novels. I strongly dislike attaching author names to a work if I can help it, particularly since one is just an entry within a series and the other is an entire series.

That works, I was just giving those as an example since I'm unfamiliar with both.

What do you mean by SNAFU'd?

SNAFU is an acronym for "situation normal: all fouled up". Though in the original context (the US military, I believe) they used a stronger word than "fouled".

Okay, I think I hardsplit the page correctly. Somebody want to double check me? If I did do it wrong, can you get some screen shots for me? If I screwed up anywhere, it's in the setting the page type.

I wish somebody had told me that there was a film adaption that needed to be split off as well.

I'm going to go off and make a hard split page now.

Okay, making the hard split page now. Someone should move the original work to Literature.Night Watch, and the adaption to Film.Night Watch.

Don't forget to custom-title in parentheses, like Night Watch (Discworld).
