Ahh. Yeah, it might be interesting. Wamattherson is gonna get pretty damn crowded soon...

Dunno what they'll name it. I heard 'Jaegertech' might be it, in honor of the long-lost Jaeger and Sol Tech servers.

I tend to operate best in smaller fights where I can more easily pick my targets. Towers and biolabs are both decent cert farms, but I'm still not good enough yet to have the spatial awareness to take full advantage of them. If Wamatherson is too crowded I might hold off.

I've been forcing myself to use the Solstice SF more on my Anti-armor light assault loadout, and I must admit the minimum arming distance is a giant pain in the ass to get used to. Normally I'm trying to burst down a sunderer or such with C4 followed by grenade shots, but the situations where pulling to minimum distance for the 'nades won't get me cut down instantly are rather low...

After giving it some good thought, and taking a step back from my various frustrations I still feel like they need to completely redesign about 98% of the bases. Either they're utterly defenseless, or the "defenses" do little more than trap the would be defenders so they can be tanked like fish in a barrel. Tanks and vehicles have a role to play, but it's not "render infantry obsolete when there are more than two" and I feel like there should be more "open" area outside the bases proper to allow for tank fights to take place. I'm not a tanker, I don't know what that'd be, but I'm sure it could work. Turrets could definitely use a rework too, as currently it takes all of 10 seconds (usually less) for any given turret to get torn to pieces. usually, they're only actually useful for enemy infiltrators. I kind of like the various chokepoints and such around the bases, but I'd like the more open bases to actually be possible to defend once 40 enemies show up.

In addition I feel like it's really important that SOE finds a way to incentivize roughly even fights, not only giving better benefits on a fight-to-fight rather than continent wide basis (to make people want to fight a zerg) but perhaps also taping on an XP penalty for massive overpop (70%+)to punish people for abusing numbers.

I find myself hesitant to use the magrider these days unless I know I can bully some passerby into manning my PPA. Even when I had more certs in it than I did in my lightning (I don't anymore, I love the lightning) I tended to favor the lightning because the lower resource cost was worth it when I had a chance to escape in a lightning, where I'd totally lose the magrider. The magrider is just too damn slow, too damn big, and my cannon might as well be a laser trebuchet. In theory I really like the tank, and I really WANT to like the tank, but it's very difficult to use effectively for a player like me, where the lightning is relatively adaptable and easy to get 100% out of, if perhaps less out-and-out maneuverable because of the whole "not hovering" thing.

My Infiltrator K/D Is almost 1 now, and I have a feeling that's more because I'm out in the arse end of nowhere trying to snipe engineers rather than 1337 5N1P3R 5KI115

Also I just found the Planetside 2 SOE official stats page and I think I prefer this layout. Holy balls the all white of the other site hurt my eyes.

The SOE stat site is nice-looking, but often has errors. Weirdly enough the fanmade one generally does things much more accurately.

As for the magrider... yeah. It needs some love. Thing used to be terrifyingly overpowered, but then SOE overnerfed it and hasn't touched it since. sad Feels like like a catapult when it fires.

hopefully it'll be looked at when they nerf the other tanks into the ground. I can't say I will miss being headshot by AP tanks 200 M away as a light assault though.

Now if only the base designs actually encouraged tanks to fight instead of farm.

yeah... but I don't think that's going to happen because of Hossin, at least for now. not sure when to expect the resource update or the galaxy revamp either.

I think I heard tell of SOE scheduling a relook at the lightning in the future as well? it could very well have just been a rumor.

Hossin actually might be really good for vehicle combat and gameplay as a whole. It's virtually all beautifully massive open spaces, no random mountains or cliffs to get in your way but loads of amazing trees and foliage to hide in. We'll be seeing convoys again, I guarantee it, but they'll definitely need infantry support or they'll easily be C4'd.

I'll admit to being a rampant C4 fairy. I got a good kick out of a bunch of tanks sitting around vanu archives shelling, while I slipped out in my light assault and started popping tanks.

it's a little inefficient, but was good fun to watch the previously solid camp shatter from their tank backbone outwards.

That's what C4 fairies are for, after all. Fortunately this new update will let tanks fight on the move better, which will lessen the frustration for new tankers - at the same time they're getting their velocity reduced.

argh, got stuck on indar (lol early morning pop) and decided I might as well make the best of Sniper Hellâ„¢ and run around with the phaseshift for awhile.

And then I discovered that the canyons in indar seem to love to randomly forget friction exists. I'll be perched on a ledge somewhere, rotate to look at someone and suddenly WHOOPS into the canyon my frail, squishy body goes.

Today was going well and then I had to ragequit because There's not a goddamn thing I can do against numbers.

Sure, we had the best server pop (it's 2 am) but no, I avoid zerging, only to have an enemy zerg slam right into my face. I pull AA, I pull AV, I liberally teamkill the fucktards sitting in spawn with SM Gs taking potshots, I die and fall back *several times* to abuse turrets. The tank/liberator notices me, swivels, and blaps me like an insect before returning to the farm.

wow, suddenly VS has on-par or slight overpop again! it was really weird to see us pushing hard on all three continents on prime.

it might be permanent if the briggs folks have left. that was our major problem, we were just swamped under refugees from briggs. before that VS was usually slightly ahead in the pop game, and generally won alerts.

Oh man. I'd forgotten how easymode shotguns are at <20m. Also they should probably look at tank mines again because I unloaded all my infantry resources into then and flash-shocked a bunch of zerging sunderers.

Just zooming in on a scout radar flash tossing a pair of mines down with a sticky grenade, then wolololing back to spawn to restock? That seems silly. I started doing it because they're 3/4th the cost of c4 (less than that in certs) and two can ACTUALLY FREAKING KILL SUNDERERS. Unless they use mine guard, which no one does because of the prevalence of c4.

[up][up]Given how frequent massed tank or infantry rushes are in this game I'd find that justifiable.

[up]Definitely I have no qualms about lolmining the SEVEN Sunderers that pull up to a 1-12 base and unload 25-48+ guys on a continent where they have 60%+ pop.

Oh man, after some frustrations of NC pop being RIDICULOUSLY HIGH all day, I managed to squeeze out a few good killstreaks with the phaseshift. Turns out that antivehicle turret/tank/rocket primary heavies like standing PERFECTLY STILL when bombarding the launch pad area of a biolab from a nearby mesa. they also happened to just barely be in 200m one-hit-headshot range of my phaseshift. I really like the gun, but I'm really starting to feel the strain of a "long range rifle" that can't kill efficiently past that range.
