Wait so that last scene was supposed to be Ringo? I thought that it was that girl with the pistol from OP
It was structured to make you think it was Ringo if you weren't paying attention. It clearly was not, however.
^^^ Oh, okay these posts confused me. I thought I might have missed something that others saw.
I'm starting to think that Ringo is failing her duty as the diary holder.
Perhaps the true reason of the diary is not to chronicle things before they happen, but to warn the holder to stop them from happening.
I blame Radiant Historia for this sudden insight.
But then how will she become God?
Hey, certain places have begun to call Himari's "transformed" state as princess of the crystal. Maybe its more accurate to call it the "spirit who possesses Himari during the transformation". I dunno.
She is being called that because that is what she is known as.
If that Princess of the Crystal comment was directed at me, I've seen that name used a few different places (including in a translation of the character relationship chart) so I honestly think that's what she's called, swear I didn't make it up!
Anyway, I've seen some people wondering why Ringo's room has an ocean theme that also shows up a lot around her (even during the flashback in this episode you could see a kappa and sea otter plushie next to her) and I was thinking, what if it's a pun? Unmei, fate, and umi, ocean, sound a little bit alike, maybe?
If it has a plot then I have something to say about it!No, they really don't.
They're also nothing alike in terms of the kana - うみ, umi, and うんめい. They both start with u, but that's it.
It's been fun.I like this anime, but the transformation sequence is very long (over 2 mins and counting)... I wonder whether this 'penguin drum' has responsibility for the coincidental strangeness of the penguins appearing

In an anime, I'll be the Tsundere Dark Magical Girl who likes purple MY own profile is actually HERE!Episode 5
Oh, so the hat is Himari's Soul Gem! that scene sure felt familiar.
Anyway, Horie Yui as Natsume, who's...I don't even know whats up with her.
Ringo gets to experience SURVIVAL STRATEGY and then bitchslaps the Princess of the Crystal, and prompts the scene mentioned above.
So yeah. Now what?
Wow. Kamba probably shouldn't be alive, after what he went through this ep.
It seems to me, though, that now that they've pooled their information with Ringo, we can have the plot properly advance.
But where did Kambe get all the money from?
Man-whore?
1. Kanba is seen at the Diet of Japanese (the Japanese Congress if you will) 2. He gets money from a suspicious looking guy.
The conclusion I made is that Kanba is selling secret governmental information.
That truck scene wasn't familiar at all. Certainly didn't remind me of how a similar revelation took place in a recent anime. Definitely not
Sarcasm aside, that black penguin symbol is showing up all over the place. Red Herring?

X4:
Look at the message that was displayed on the train this episode "Borrow Responsibly. Don't fall into a debt spiral." Those messages often tie into the plot of the episode, so the suspicious guy was most likely a loan shark, or maybe even a Yakuza member.
Anyway, it was easily the best episode of the series so far. I knew that things would start to advance after the scene at end of episode 4, and I wasn't disappointed. Also, I want to see more Masako Natsume. She seems like an extremely interesting character.
My standard Anime Theme song game variant rules: [Censored by ACTA]
And she's Horie Yui! Not the kind of character you associate with her, but thats not unusual for this show, look at Noto Mamiko's character!
Well, that certainly went better than I thought from the preview. Now that Ringo knows everything there's very little reason for her not to negotiate with the Takakura Brothers; maybe even with the Princess of the Crystal, who might be open to talk now that she knows she can't bully Ringo like the others. But of course, we've still got 19 episodes left so either the Fate Diary isn't the Penguin Drum or we're looking at a particularly outlandish twist.
At any rate, I still believe he's the true villain of the series.◊

Wow. Good eye.
Wow. Kanba is quite badass. And appears to have superhuman strength and injury-recovery, powered by presumably nothing but pure GAR. But really...pink underwear?
Also, the Princess of the Crystal trash-talking Ringo was priceless. As was Ringo bitch-slapping her. All in all, a very epic episode.
There are people saying the trash talking was gg's "interpretation" of that scene.
They switched around a few words, but it was pretty clearly a string of insults in the first place. I don't think there's much practical difference between "vomit pig bitch girl" and "bitch-ass whore". Well, maybe more of a sexual connotation, but the important thing is that it made Ringo go slap her.

Wow, I must have seen some different subs (think they were by Nutbladder) because I didn't see any trash talking at all. There was Po C's usual "you people who will never amount to anything" phrase but I don't recall anything more than that. And nice catch on the train ads, all I could think of was that the girl's pose looked similar to one from Tiger And Bunny recently
If it has a plot then I have something to say about it!
^I just thought given Ringo's somewhat crazed obsession with the future diary, that last scene was just her insanity crossing yet another line.
Though I guess I should have been more suspicious of the fact that they didn't show who exactly pushed the girl.
