Granted, in the earlier games, he wasn't always an auto-Whammy either. You had a few chances of getting away free (like in MP 2, where it seemed to happen more often), he can help you if you're behind, you can generally win yourself free of punishment in mini-games, and some of his happenings, like Bowser Revolution, can be helpful.

The only thing I didn't like about Mario Party 3 was that you never fought Bowser. :( Waluigi's Island was nifty, though—my favorite place was the Random Island, where every turn, every space was something different. Sometimes I got Chance Time!

Also, Waluigi stole his island from Luigi. D:

Hahah! So I'm not the only one who noticed! And he overran it with his Piranha Plants to boot! Poor remaining Goombas... XD Though, that would explain the board's similiarities with Luigi's Engine Room.

If there's a canon in the Mario Party games, I tend to consider it canon that Luigi is the Superstar of Mario Party 3. He replaces the character you play as as a duelling opponent (thus lacking a Star Stamp of his own), and both Daisy and Waluigi (who both are commonly associated with him) are the final two opponents that you play against on the boards.

There is... kinda. If you go by MP 2, Wario was the "official" Superstar of the first game.

Thanks to Mario Party 5, we also know there's canon with the Paper Mario series.

Ah, Mario Party. I've only partaken in 2, 4 (didn't own that one), 6 and 7. Beating some of those minigame I had down like a science. SO much so that my niece would get pissed that I kept smoking her.

When I wasn't as good at it, I used to be annoyed by the Bonus Stars, so I'd keep them off. But now they save my hide, especially in the later games when I have the most coins or won the most games.

Anyone else deliberately go back on one's settings in MP 2, just to see the characters all fall back down the pipe? That was hilarious.

I can't remember who said it, but I agree with whoever said Day at the Races was their favorite luck-based game.

My family always gets ridiculously loud cheering for out little dudes. Whomp tends to be lucky for me.

Eh, I don't really like Day at the Races. I tend to lose that minigame no matter what, really. My favorite luck based minigame is Bowser's Big/Bigger Blast.

Someone got Mario Party 9 early. He plays through Magma Mine. That music sounds kinda familiar.

Man, that Magma gimmick's gonna be such a game changer. It's gonna cause trouble for EVERYONE. Oh, and Bowser Revolution's in this game. And with coins and stars being condensed into one type of currency... yikes... And after a long absence, the absurd number of stars present returns as an event! Though, can it even land on that?

Another thing to note, battle spaces return, with two possible hosts. Hammer Bro, who takes mini-stars from everyone, and distributes them accordingly. Same as always. Fire Bro, who takes mini-stars from the player who ended up in last in a mini-game, and distributes them among the other 3 players. Yeah, last place is definitely for losers here. I wonder if Boomerang Bro is another possible host, and I wonder what rules he sets.

When I was a kid, my favorite Luck Based game was that spinning wheel with a Chain Chomp in MP 3 (Can't remember the name) I always loved playing that over and over again, watching the colors dissappear as the Chain Chomp grabs one player after another.....

.... I guess by that, I also loved Bowser's Big Blast as well!

My favorite Mario minion is Shy Guys. But Boos do earn a lot of love from me!

Ah, Merry-Go-Chomp! I remember that one, though I haven't played Mario Party 3 in years. Despite it having one of my favorite sub-game types in it. (My kingdom for Duel Mode!) But I think I liked the one with Chomps eating cake, that Gambling Guy has. Mostly because I love cake.

You know what game my "best of" list should've had in it? Cake Factory, from MP 2! I think I left it out because I'm the only one in my family that likes it. But it makes me smile every time. It's just so I Love Lucy-esque.

Whoa, just found out something major from someone who has this game. ALL minigames are available to play, straight off the bat. The only minigames that need to be unlocked are the boss ones.

Unfortunately, you can't save in the middle of the board, and pausing the game just... pauses the game. No options or anything like that.

Though according to people who've played it already, they enjoy it a lot.

And in Solo mode, BOTH Kamek and Shy Guy will end up traveling with you on later boards, making it harder to win.

I better get working on that list, there's tons of minigames I've enjoyed. (Unfortunately, I have not played 6, so don't complain if you don't see any minigames from there.)

Speaking of draws... Theoretically, it's possible to draw in Mario Party as a whole, but I have no clue what actually happens. Does anyone?

If there is a tie for stars and coins (even if it's not for first), all tying players do a dice roll before the results are revealed to determine ranking.

I've definitely seen this happen, usually because the last turn involved some crazy Bowser-like event that wipes out everyone's coins.

Man, Boo's Horror Castle. It long looked as if Kamek was going to take the victory with a landslide, but skillful playing evened it out and gave me the first place win again (thanks to the Boss Minigame). Man, I suspect that Kamek has a better A.I. than Shy Guy whenever he appears, as Shy Guy haven't been a threat to me.

Again, my main income of Mini Stars came from the Minigames (specifically, the Boss Minigames, but no Minigame Star bonus sad), especially the battle minigames. This is possibly the most exciting round of Mario Party I've played yet. Received 5 Stars from the Endgame Bonus Stars, but I didn't need them (by the very margin of two Mini Stars if I didn't get them) to win. Phew...

I watched a game on Toad Road, and at one point, it became clear that the AI wasn't just making sure the player lost, oh no, it was working together sure Daisy WON. (For context, one of the AI players instantly gave up his chance to win the stars on Nine Island, and let Daisy go last. Daisy didn't win, but still...)

But later Daisy was stupid and ran into a bunch of ztars on purpose, so it was kay.

A good writer puts in a lot of details in there story. But a great one gets a story from a single detail.

It's a good thing I'm great at winning Minigames because that's frankly my only stable source of Mini Star income. That being said, it really forces you to think ahead and take notes of the CP Us' antics.

Some First Impressions:

The "! Space" is not "Chance Time" but something called the "Spin Space". Its function is most similiar to Mario Party 3's Duel Mode's "? Space". I kinda like it, and I'd say it's more of a neutral-positive version of the Bowser Space (which explains why the DK Space is only found in one board).

Shy Guy and Kamek, your opponents in Story Mode, seems to have different A.I. and behavior. Kamek seems to be the more challenging one to go up against.

The ? Space acts like it always has, though the number of board events seem smaller.

When you're on the last stretch, the player in Last Place get's a special die (that allows you to time your number with great success) and the Captain get's to accept or deny receiving "lots of gifts" from Bowser. How many Bowser Spaces that replace the other spaces seem to differ depending on the answer.

As for the boards I've played, I like Bob-omb Factory and Boo's Horror Castle. Toad's board is pretty bland though (but I guess that's to be expected).
