[up][up]-sigh- I wish they sold actual cosplay coats and etc. I'd consider dressing as Arno for the next con.

I'm a critical person but I'm a nice guy when you get to know me. Now, I should be writing.

If they made official cosplay coats in that kind of quality, they'd probably be priced well outside of the range of anyone here.

That stuff's actually pretty neat! I love the bag. -fiddles with Christmas list-

[up]And homemade cosplays are any cheaper? Or ones done by professionals? I'm just saying, if they made official cosplay costumes at decent prices, they'd likely be making a fortune.

>at decent prices

This isn't possible.

I've never cosplayed, but I'd imagine that a decent one — not a professional-level one, but one that's identifiable and looks nice — would probably be two to three hundred dollars, mostly in fabric.

An official outfit would use much nicer fabric than your average jane/joe would, and would also have the price of labour on top of that. Given that the nice jacket is almost $300, an official Arno coat would easily be upwards of $500.

[up]For the full cosplay? No. A decent cosplay AC jacket (and only the long coat) could be around $200. I've seen them go for MASSIVE prices. I saw handmade Ezio Gaiters (leg armor) going for $400+ on esty the other day. His overly complicated chest stuff? $275. Cosplay is expensive. Connor's is usually the more expensive set since his uses heavier fabrics; he's in the forest and snow constantly where as Ezio is in humid Europe often and would have thinner fabrics. Altair's is usually the cheapest since he didn't have any elaborate details.

Cosplay is INCREDIBLY expensive to put together and Ubisoft would be, in my opinion, welcome to cash in on some of their far more complicated elements to their character's looks. At the very least, I'd be open to Character Kits that break down Assassin's Costumes using their in-game models and concept art? Bioware did that a bit back with some of there characters the breakdown certainly helped in fan art and getting cosplays properly done.

>go

You're looking at people selling them. Again, they're including labour in that price.

Also, the descriptions you're using sound like high-quality cosplay. Which the majority of people aren't going to even try, since it's so much more difficult and expensive.

Another reason official costume pieces are expensive? Supply and demand. There isn't the demand for pieces like this to be made in large manufacturing runs. Small runs cost more than making them in bulk. Which jacks up the price.

Even the official clothing they're selling is priced a little higher than I feel it should be. Because Assassin's Creed may have millions of fans, but only a very small fraction of them will shell out for merch.

Actually, no, the Ezio one I looked at was pretty basic looking; lots of obvious stitching points, not may details in the cloth, and the proportions weren't accurate.

Anyway, one of the reasons I bring this up is because Assassin's Creed has a very large cosplay fandom; at my average nothing special in size con in my hometown, I see about 50 AC cosplayers on average per day. Triple that if there's an AC Voice Actor at the con, such as Ezio's VA attending three times now. And there's almost always a ton of AC Homemade cosplays (cheepy $50-$100 ones) on sale. I think the only cosplays I see more often than AC are 'Present Day Cosplays' (cosplays of characters that take place in the present and thus don't require too much handmade elements) and Deadpool.

If any game company could theoretically start selling official cosplays, its Unisoft. They already sell replicas of the weapons from the game. I don't see why costumes would be out of the question.

Nope. It's different. We're already getting two regular AC games this fall. Plus Dead Kings. I don't need a third one right away.

Curious as to what we'll be doing in Dead Kings' Saint Denis. Besides the advertized murder mysteries and contracts.

[up]By my guess, Elise dies because we HAVE to have a Tragic Hero who Doesn't Get The Girl and be Moody and Depressive. All the art for Dead Kings is very dark and Arno seems to be drawn in much darker and, generally moodier colors than Unity. Even the way he looked in the gameplay seemed to suggest a very different tone of body language to me than in Unity. His clothing also seems tattered and faded and not the rich vibrant and elegant fabric work of Unity. My guess is Elise dies and Arno either fails in his goal or it comes at great cost to himself and Dead Kings is following him working through his depression and other issues. That's my guess.

Dead Kings does seem to suggest that one way or another Unity's having a bittersweet if not outright Downer Ending.

[up] One of the trailers outright showed Elise on the way to the Guillotine. Even if Arno 'saved' her, she must have been in deep shit to get there. Well, actually, they were sort of throwing anyone that potentially was a threat into Madame Guillotine's bed; they were paranoid as fuck, so she may not have done anything entirely wrong, but that certainly doesn't suggest she's 'safe' by any means.

I swear, if they kill her off, they better do a good job handling it or a lot of gamers are going to riot.

And, like I said, I'm sort of already disappointed with the whole 'China' side game. Feels like it was specifically made to address the complaints made at E3 about the lack of Female Assassins... without ACTUALLY addressing the issues being brought up.

I disagree. If it starred a completely original character, then maybe. But it's Shao Jun. People have been asking to play as her ever since Embers.

Besides the fact that there's no way that was made in only six-ish months (from E3 to Unity/Rogue's launch; it'll probably be a couple months for Chronicles China to come out, but not many). And Ubisoft's been experimenting with indie-inspired games lately (Child of Light, Valiant Hearts), so this feels like one of those.

If it still bothers you, then think of it like a reverse Freedom Cry. Freedom Cry was the story DLC for Black Flag, and turned out to garner enough interest to be released as a short standalone game. Chronicles China is the same thing, but backwards. It's a downloadable game for everyone, but is treated as a piece of Unity DLC if you buy the Season Pass.

Librarian: Dead Kings is epilogue DLC for Unity.

Kind of? It's more like Unity's Tyranny of King Washington, since it stars Arno instead of a different character. Although it doesn't seem as extensive as Tyranny.

Hmm...

It's more like Unity's Battle of Forli and Bonfire of the Vanities?

[up]x4 Well, to me it looks like it could be the size of Freedom Cry. It doesn't look like it'll be as small as Bonfire/Battle.

And, I disagree still, China is a side scroller with a stylized art look to it. To be honest, I don't see anything that looks like I couldn't have been cooked up since E3. Its a very simplified art style, side scroller, with only a handful of images released.

At the very least, you can't say its inclusion had nothing to do with those complaints. Why else release China with Unity? There doesn't seem to be any logical reason to connect the two games.

My feel is that they tried to answer fan cries for a female protagonist without realizing that the fans are crying to a MAIN GAME PROTAGONIST to be female. Sho Jun has always been an open place for a game to be made, but a DLC side scroller connected to a game that really doesn't seem to have any relation to it screams 'IRRELEVANT' to me; like how Liberation wasn't advertised at all an on a portable system rather than console or PC and then its console/PC re-release wasn't advertised either screamed to me that the game was then unimportant and a throw away title rather than something for me to spend my money on. When you combine those ideas with the fact that said 'throw away games' are the games with female protagonists, it creates an issue.
