Guess I may as well start this one up, cause looks like nobody else made a thread for it. Odd, especially since it's been released and all...

Well first things first: whatever you do, do NOT get this game for the PS 3. The graphics are easily the worst I've seen in on any of the current-gen systems, the Wii included. The guns look low-res, especially the shotgun, there's way too much fog, the subtitles are ridiculously small, and they could'nt even care to create the bottom of a pitfall from the roof of a building that should only be two floors deep at most. Dunno what the hell happened when they were porting this sucker, but they really dropped the ball on that one. Not sure how it looks or runs on the 360 though, but the PC version seems to have gotten all the love.

But let's move on to something more important - the gameplay. The focus is definately on the action this time around - there's nowhere near as many scares or scripted cinematic moments as in the last two games, probably as a means to keep the gameplay flowing since it's now all about co-op. Unfortunately I can't test that part since my PS 3's internet connection is really poor, and that sucks since this game was clearly built around that concept. Reason why is Fettel becomes nothing more than a voice who occasionally helps/monologues if you don't have a second player (the Point Man is still mute). There is a splitscreen option though, so some of you with friends can still use that if wish.

Otherwise it's looking like it's gonna be your meat-and-potatoes FPS with bullet-time and Co D-style ranking and perks. Hope the story's ending is worth it...

That doesn't seem so bad.

Also, I think we already do have a thread for it, you were probably looking for the one with the actual title: F.3.A.R.

It sounds like a letdown after the first two games.

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.

It is, if you were playing it for the scares and story. The levels also feel WAY too linear and cramped, even worse than the first game at some points. The co-op and multiplayer seems to be getting good praise from what I hear though, and playing as Paxton Fettel is actually pretty damned fun once you get good with him.

From what I've heard, though, the Health regen is apparently balanced out by the levels being really hard.

But how are the enemies? The Replica soldiers were always fun (though the slow-mo made it so easy to ake them out), but the supernatural enemies were bullshit.

Definately a lot less enemies than FEAR 2 had, especially on the supernatural side. Hell, the game doesn't even tell you when the Replica soldiers start popping up. You'll only notice when you realize their armor looks different and that they use assault rifles and other heavy weapons (the normal Armacham PMC mooks usually carry UMP submachine guns, shotguns, or uzis).

Doesn't mean they suck though - the AI is still pretty damned good at flanking and flushing you out of camping spots. Sit around for too long hiding behind cover, and they'll eventually use grenades and/or suppressive fire and have a guy armed with a shotgun rush your position. I'm currently playing it on the "Fearless" difficulty, and while it's not Halo-Legendary-hard, it is challenging on your own.
