Idea For A Magical Boyfriend Series titled"Habori gani Kitsune"

I was thinking up this idea for either a book or animated series that revolves around an African American girl meeting this Japanese boy named Shinji who is really a kitsune and has illusion making powers.The word Habori gani means what's the news and kitsune is the japanese word for fox.I wanted it to sound like it was shonen anime with a funny title.I was thinking it would either be in the light of supernatural romance if it was a book series or be an action-comedy slice of life thing like teen titans.I personally I prefer the latter.

... Answer me a quick question. He's Japanese because the myth demands it, right? Not just 'cause it'd be cool? *begs it's the former*

It seems like a good idea. And as mentioned above, don't make him japaneese because of the assumption: japanese character = instant cool...

Where will the story take place. I would suggest Europe or North America, with the kitsune and his family recently having moved there.

He's Japanese because the legend of the kitsune is japanese.I also picture the guy as an unlucky every day dude who wears glasses and is a total manga/anime fan.Yeah,instead of making him drop dead gorgeous,I am going for the adorkable every day guy who you wouldn't think of being the magical boyfriend.I also imagine him as being the reserved, quiet type but is a very avid bookworm.For the female lead I imagine her as who likes to keep to herself.She would also be hotblooded and be a tsundere but when she is around Shinji she is more patient and understaning.What makes them attract to one another is that they are both avid book readers and are total geeks for manga/anime and animated American shows/movies.I am also making it so Shinji's family was originally from Japan but moved.So they are opposites in personality but have the same interests.Yes,I plan to make this take place in America specifically California.
