Stairs lead down below a evil sorceror-king's castle, and at the bottom is a steel door, now locked behind the protagonist. Beyond the door and down a narrow stone corridor is a small chamber, lit by a strange greenish glow. In its center is a plinth, upon which is a fine steel sword with no crossguard. Engraved into the side of the plinth . . . Well, currently, I've got these words:

Four paths lie before you

Or perhaps they are only three

Die a hero

Die a coward

Live a monster, flesh or steel

The sword shall guide you

Asking for advice on what the plinth should say would require me to reveal more of the plot than I would like to at this time. However, I am having difficulty gauging whether the inscription is fine as it is. If all or part of it seems awkward, I'll know where to start revising. So, what do you all think of it?

Obviously, the sword is cursed. If I touch it the king will possess my body. I will focus on stealing the gold.

It's really hard to say whether that's "fine" or not, with no idea of what it's supposed to mean.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.
