That and what I said aren't mutually exclusive.

Yes they are. What I said doesn't match up with what you said at all.

Just checked Wikipedia. Apparently this is what happened:

Reki Kawahara wrote the first volume [of Sword Art Online] in 2002 as a competition entry for ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Game Novel Prize, but refrained from submitting it as he had exceeded the page limit. He instead published it as a web novel under the pseudonym Fumio Kunori. Over time, he added three further volumes and several short stories. In 2008, he participated in the competition again by writing Accel World, this time winning the Grand Prize. Aside from Accel World, he was requested to get his earlier work, Sword Art Online, published by ASCII Media Works. Kawahara agreed and withdrew his web novel versions. The republication as a paper novel began on April 10, 2009.

As for which is more popular, ANN provides rather conclusive numbers in terms of recent sales, showing that SAO sold 2.7 times as much as Accel World in the same time frame. That gap's even worse when you remember that Accel World's anime ran first, so it had more time to build that momentum.

So...pretty much exactly what I said.

Except for Accel World being more popular. Couldn't have been more wrong about that. We were both wrong about one thing each.

So.....we might finally have confirmation of KYH's name. Kuroba Yukiko

Also, volume 13 spoilers.

Also, yikes those spoilers have actual action. Poor Taku (although what else is new?) but everything else is moving forward. Wish the author would finally throw Taku a bone and give him a girlfriend.

-Niko says the reason female BL's fawn over him is that they are usually afraid of males due to sensing the diference between their avatars and their helpless real selves, but Haru can make them feel confortable. Haru isn't completely happy of being seen as harmless.
Goddammit Reki.

[up] It almost seems like a parody of sexism.

[up][up][up][up] It is possible that Kawahara-sensei has since changed it. Or there is also a possibility that the author did not change it, but instead gave her nickname as its alternate reading.

  • "Yuki" in "Yukiko" can be written in Kanji as either "snow" or "luck". In the case of "Yukiko", it's the former. However, "luck" is usually spelled in Romaji as "Sachi", NN's nickname for KYH.

Interesting. Still hoping for a second season though since I don't think the novel translations are very far.

Accel World EX 02: It was nice to see Sky Raker fighting as a member of Nega Nebulas. Otherwise, I didn't find it particularly interesting.

Whoever did that physical exam must have sucked.

Dub preview:

Sounds like a good dub so far.

Also, Kawahara and the light novel publisher wants to bring both of his series' novels overseas.

Wow, the dub is so cash. Has good potential to become the best ever since dubs by FUNimation.

I might get used to Haru and KYH speaking in English. It's so much better. Japanese!KYH sounds too stern, while Japanese!Haru sounds too wimpy.

I have high hopes for this dub.

Accel World EX 02 revealed that Haru actually used to be thin and was pretty popular with the girls, too. Separation from his father, however, threw his self-confidence into the trash, and he started eating a lot of food to overcome his anxieties and loneliness. Turns out Haru's father is a pretty good gamer as well.

Furthermore, it was stated by KYH that if Haru were to lose weight, he would be even more popular with the girls than he already is now. Though fat Haru's harem factor was probably helped by his alternate personality Silver Crow. I mean, come on, if she still gets all the pretty girls despite looking like a pig, imagine him surpassing Touma-level harem-making ability once he loses weight.

So, what do you think of the dubs? I thought it's pretty awesome. I even like it better than the original dub.

If I had the money? Yep. Especially since they are professional translations and thus probably more accurate and better written than the fan translations.

[up][up] Definitely. At least they won't be screwing around like Baka-Tsuki is. They've got the first four volumes complete but they've only done the first half of volume five, then the first half of volume six, only the first chapter of seven and a third of eight, none of nine, most of 10 (though that's the side story volume) and about a third of eleven.

At least an official release won't jump around like that.
