That's pretty much how good foreshadowing is supposed to work. It appears wholly inoccuous unless you actually know what it means, in which case it's blindingly obvious.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaIndeed. That's why, despite its flaws, W-iR is quite sophisticated in terms of storytelling.
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction. There's one major plot point I saw in previews of the books that I had already picked up on (yet didn't expect to be a plot point at all, just an oversight), but I don't think it's been in a very obvious piece of promotional art yet, so I'm not sure if it's the one you're thinking of. (And no, it's not Felix changing out of his green shirt, but it's along those lines.)
This Collider article is a mixture of those four character image/description articles we saw before, but most of the Hero's Duty and Sugar Rush descriptions are new to me. And it strikes me that now that the Sugar Rush Speedway online game is out, we can do comparisons to images we've got from it from the movie. It's funny, I think I recognize all the racers on the side art of the cabinet image, but in the screenshot behind it, all the racers alongside King Candy are totally new to me, or at least are some very altered palette swaps. I like how King Candy's throne is on top of a giant "KC" popcorn box. Who's represented by the bitten apple?
The HUD in the game screen is completely different from the one in the real game; the only thing I recognize is the placement of the track map, and that map's in a different shape than any track I remember from the game. But then, I never saw that zone with the giant gumball dispensers we got a glimpse of in the trailers. Maybe that's coming in a later unlockable, or maybe they just didn't want to mess with fancy stage hazards like the giant gumballs for this version. And that machine appears to have buttons labeled 1, 2, and 3—perhaps, since I see three sugar cubes at the top of the HUD, the arcade version would let you carry and select from up to three items at a time instead of just one?
And, haha, you can tell that the stock images of Gloyd Orangeboar and Adorabeezle Winterpop on the character select are mirrored due to the numbers on their cars.
Oh man, I thought I saw cards in Ralph's space marine outfit once, and then I looked at a large image and saw more: Whoever had the suit before drew some playing cards on the shoulder along with the words "HOLD EM!" So it looks like our Ralph bumped into a card player to get that?

Awww, man! When the video's are named like "Meet Ralph" and "Meet Felix", I was hoping they would do something akin to the Meet The Team Videos. They're fine on their own, but I really would have preferred the "Meet The" style... Would've been cooler that way...
I am Wreck-It Ralph guy ... and this ... is my video game. It costs 50c to play this game, for three lives.
Holy Grail, huh? Cool story, bro.@Mewtwo Warrior: Thanks for the links! They run, but choppily- not sure if the problem is my computer's or the host site's. Too bad, because there were parts that I wanted to freeze for a better look (like Ralph's and Felix's Stats) but couldn't zero in on. Let me know if you upload them elsewhere.
The Collider.com article on the other hand, really introduces a lot of new stuff, in particular the Surge Protector guy, whom you'd think would have been mentioned before, even if he's only a bit player.

You're welcome! Huh, I'm not sure either, I haven't watched that version of them.
I've tossed them on File Dropper for download, hopefully they won't give you any problems that way. They seem to run pretty smooth on my computer:
Since you mentioned you wanted to look at the stats especially, I nabbed screenshots for you:

*sigh* Still no luck in getting Sugar Rush to run, either through restarting the browser or restarting the computer! Maybe I'll try to play it on a friend's computer and see what happens...
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI was poking around the official site and discovered that they've added Hero's Duty and Sugar Rush! I didn't have much time, but I played a little of Hero's Duty. I'm really impressed by it and it was pretty fun! I'm definitely gonna play with it more once I have the time to.
Wow, really? I was thinking they'd wait another month for the next game, to make it literally "brand new" when the movie comes out.
@Mattonymy: If you don't mind, could you share with me that promotional art spoiler?
Things I need to do for WIR:
- Join the Litwak's Arcade forum
- Draw some Ralph art
- Play Sugar Rush and Hero's Duty
- Decide whether or not I'll get the soundtrack or just save for the DVD/Blu-ray
x6 Finally! Again, thanks, specially for the screenshots. Hah, it figures that Felix would have much more "niceness" (read: popularity) than poor Ralph. We'll see who REALLY is the nicest soon! Btw you think we'll get to see similar spots for Calhoun and Vanellope? I wonder how much "niceness" they have!

What bugs me about the Sugar Rush and Hero's Duty games are that the references to the arcade and Ralph in the menus and such kinda take away from the illusion of being the actual games.
Well they're not going to put out these free games and not include a "see our movie" anywhere. That's just crappy advertising. Besides the fact that people know that Sugar Rush isn't from 1997 since, you know, we would have heard of it, and not been waiting for it to come out.
That's why you keep the ad on the loading screens. After all, Unity-based games take a little more time to load anyway.

x4 You're very welcome, glad I could help out! Heh, of course, poor Ralph doesn't get enough love. Though, I'm wondering if the stats are for their game selves rather than their real selves. I hope they will, and I think there will be, since they're included in the character select in Ralph's and Felix's. Heh, their niceness should be very interesting to see! Though they might be graded on different stats because their games are so different than Fix-It Felix. Jr..
Wouldn't it have been great if the scenes in Sugar Rush were hand-drawn, to reflect the 90's aesthetic much more? ... I suppose it would've been more expensive, and most of the film is in Sugar Rush anyway. Not faulting Disney on anything, I'm just speculating.
Sugar Rush is from '97. We were well into the 3D era by that point.
Yeah, if anything, the aesthetic of Sugar Rush should be blocky polygons to fit with Play Station & Nintendo 64 being contemporary at the time Sugar Rush would've been released. However, with Ralph and Felix not being sprites, we can probably ignore any aesthetic from inside the game. Sugar Rush could very well be blocky polygons to the player outside though, and it would be a nice touch.

Wizard Needs Food BadlyToy Story was only released in 1995, and there were still a few hand-drawn projects being made by most studios then as the CG movement was still not proven viable yet. I'd hardly call that "well into the 3D era".

I think he's referring to video games rather than animation.
Holy Grail, huh? Cool story, bro.Again, Vanellope is adorable.
It looks like she and Ralph are going to take turns being the snarker.
Wait, is that Sugar Rush getting its plug pulled?
February? But that's... next year! I can't wait that long!
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...
Currently at a dilemma here.
After reading the novel and looking at the artwork again, I realize that Disney pretty much blatantly spoils an entire major plot point in the freaking promotional art and leaves it in plain sight. It's quite ingenious actually and makes perfect sense when you think about it. However no one seems to be picking up on it, and the artwork itself has been proudly displayed on the internet for months, without Disney covering anything up. Those of you in the know, know what I'm talking about.
But....I only know it's a spoiler because I read the novel, so it would be unfair if I gave anything away. Guess I'll have to wait until November.
