If SMS 3D happens, hopefully they'll have at least 150 shines to collect.

They better not add anymore BLUE COINS though. Ugh.

They could hire new voice actors this time around, like how they replaced the cheesy pre-release voice acting of Kid Icarus Uprising with, you know, actual voice acting(Tara Strong and Johnny Yong Bosch for the win!).

Given what they did with Super Mario 64 on the DS, that's probably quite likely.

On a change of subject, I would like the inevitable 3D Mario Wii U to have open-ended exploration like 64 and Sunshine, since Galaxy 1, Galaxy 2 and 3D Land all have linear level structure.

Hmm. I'd like to hear Kenny James as Bowser again. He managed to do a good job in that role. Hopefully they change some of the lines so they'd be much less narmy. "How dare you ruin my family vacation!" anyone?

I just think they should replace the actors that simply did not work. Kenny James does a pretty damn menacing performance as Bowser, so he should replace... whoever voiced Bowser in Sunshine.

And of course no-one*

would want to replace Charles Martinet as Mario.

edit:What I mean is I'd keep him as Mario. And agreed for Bowser.

Basically, don't fix what wasn't broken in the first place.

So, how about optional Gyroscope controls for FLUDD?

[up][up], [up][up][up] Yes! Kenny James is a fantastic Bowser, and Charles Martinet still makes a fantastic Mario.

[up] That could perhaps make up for the lack of a second stick. I was pretty impressed with what I could do with it in Ocarina of Time 3D.

Charles Martinet makes a fantastic 1/2 of the speaking Mario cast.

Like, I mean, he speaks for at least 50% of all Mario characters. I didn't meant to say he makes a good voice for 50% of Mario.

Charles Martinet speaks for Wario, Mario, Luigi, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Toadsworth, Waluigi, Baby Wario, Mouser, Wart, Tryclyde (?), and Clawgrip (?).

[up][up][up] Agreed.

Other Roles Charles Martinet does in the Marioverse:

  • Luigi
  • Wario
  • Waluigi
  • Toadsworth
  • Baby Mario
  • Baby Luigi
  • Wart (Super Mario Advance)
  • Mouser (Super Mario Advance)
  • Triclyde (Super Mario Advance)
  • Clawgrip (Super Mario Advance)

Other Roles (According to The Other Wiki)

  • Boxers and Announcer in Super Punch-Out!!
  • Vigoro - Skies of Arcadia
  • Homunculus - Shadow of Destiny
  • Voicework for Reader Rabbit and The Clue Finders games
  • Animal Crossing Character at E3 2005
  • Announcer in Pacman Vs.
  • Fowl Mouth in Cel Damage
  • Voicework in educational series such as Leap Frog

Other games such as Ratched & Clank: A Crack in Time (as Orvus). That being said, most of his voice acting work has been in Mario games.

He has appeared in films as well, such as The Game (as the main character's father)!

I have an idea for a Mario RPG. It starts when Bowser and his fleet invade the Mushroom Kingdom just like in the Galaxy games. However, this time the Super Mario Bros. and the Mushroom Kingdom are ready. Having finally figured that Bowser craves stars for his plots, the use Princess Peach and fake Stars and Lumas the Bowser is unaware are fake to lure him into a trap from hidden real Stars, all the rest being hidden by the Comet Observatory. You start playing a RPG battle as Mario as he helps destroy most of Bowser's fleet until he orders a retreat having suffered a shocking Custeresque upset. This finally makes Bowser a laughingstock when his entire kingdom abandons him, except for Kamek and all 8 Koopalings. With all other options in smoke, at Kamek's suggestion, Bowser finally does the right thing to ensure his success—joining with a greater evil. Kamek also suggests postponing kidnapping Princess Peach until after they find the hidden Stars and Lumas and use them to destroy Mario once and for all, then kidnap her when the Mushroom Kingdom is left with no one to protect them.

However, Peach herself has figured Bowser would do this if he had no other options. So she stows away on Bowser's battleship, planning to let herself be held captive to give Mario a chance to defeat this evil alliance, since Bowser would never let her be killed because he wants her for himself, which would be his undoing again. Meanwhile, when Peach secretly sends a message about Bowser's plot, Mario goes to Monstro Town to find the help they need. When Peach reveals herself to Bowser and the greater evil, Bowser claims he will kill Peach after Mario is destroyed, much to Kamek's chagrin, as Kamek would want her dead to ensure Bowser rules the universe. Despite that Bowser's obviously bluffing, the greater evil seems to understand.

The rest of the game goes like a RPG, but a more straight RPG rather than a comical one, but with the turn-based battle. When Mario and his party eventually beat the second-to-last regular boss, Kamek has had it. He tries to kill the Princess himself to ensure that Bowser DOES rule the universe. But Bowser catches him and beats him to a pulp, managing to mortally wound Kamek permanently. Kamek reveals that Bowser saving Peach's life and keeping her alive and captive has proven him, just like being an occasional ally of his enemies even for his selfish reasons, even a bit capable of goodness, which is destroying Kamek. He declares that Bowser will never rule to world or the universe and then dies permanently. A horrified Bowser blames Peach for Kamek's death and asserts he WILL kill her, but she remains silently incredulous. With the last regular boss defeated, Mario's party fight a powered-up Bowser. They first unsuccessfully try to convince him to give up his evil ways for his own well-being, showing compassion. After a hard battle, they defeat and destroy them. But as they're about to face the greater evil, Bowser reappears, like in SMG 2, and seemingly destroys them. He laughs in victory, but the greater villain reminds him of a promise to kill the Princess when Mario is dead. But he can't bring himself to do it, the only good thing he can't bring himself to kill (because he wants her for himself), as he has no qualms killing others. He breaks down, the greater evil reveals that he was calling Bowser's bluff all along and humiliates him. He used Bowser to destroy Mario, the protector of the universe. Bowser realizes how much of a failure he's become in every post Paper Mario 1 game except the Galaxy games, and he sealed his own fate by destroying Mario. Peach tries to convince him to join, but he believes life isn't worth living if you can't be the Big Bad, an Evil Overlord or a Card-Carrying Villain. He then tries to go kamikaze on the greater villain with a bunch of Bob'Ombs, but is grabbed on the tail (and drops the Bob'Ombs)...by Mario, who did the same trick Bowser just did and in SMG 2, and came back with the help of Power Stars. Bowser then does his evil laugh, but surprisingly hugs Mario and joins him to destroy the greater evil.

With his weakness (Peach) exposed by the greater evil and putting him on a evil blacklist, knowing he's a failure of a villain, and the good guys will never let what happened in the Galaxy games happen again, Bowser gives up his evil ways (which he's already generally lousy at now anyway) and becomes a permanent ally, but just for his own survival. Despite that Bowser would in it for himself, the good guys accept that and move on. He'd be more along the lines with Wario, who as a villain had nothing on Bowser at his prime. And Bowser would become a playable character in the Party games. And as a newfound ally, Bowser should subvert the Atoner trope because it suits him better to just give up the evil ways and become an ally just to save his own ass..er, tai.

After that, the Mario games would get a brand new villain and set of baddies, as long as everything else, including kidnapping the Princess is intact. This new villain could be created to be worth a Mario game, being a purely evil giant monster who kidnaps the Princess to keep his evil magic intact, which is what made Bowser a better villain in the past. But Bowser already wore out his welcome since he was revealed to have a crush on Princess Peach all along in PM 1. This made him generally inept and the tables turned with the effect of him kidnapping her, making it a crutch, even in the Galaxy games. And it's the good guys whose characters are derailed, because they should be well able to prevent Bowser from such greater threatening plots. Knowing the premise of SMG 2, I can't help thinking the good guys are better than that. But the game designers deliberately made the Mushroom Kingdom unaware that Bowser wants Stars as an excuse for a game. I'm not against return to form, including the New SMB games, but it doesn't make Bowser suck any less or make him less of the pretension he is now, and him kidnapping Peach doesn't help him. It just ups Bowser's chance of being defeated, not in absolutes, but up a bit. His occasional alliances with his enemies don't help him either. That's all why he should be replaced. I don't think it would hurt, especially if everything else is intact. In Donkey Kong Country Returns, K. Rool and the Kremlings are replaced, and K. Rool has never been anything other than an adept, purely evil villain overall whereas Bowser had episodes of helping his enemies and unwittingly proving slightly capable of goodness, but as a main villain is generally inept. There was no excuse of replacing K. Rool and the Kremlings, and the Donkey Kong 64 plot didn't need to be avoided like the Galaxy plots did, and while they made Bowser a greater threat, the good guys looked weaker than they should be (that means weaker than in the old school games).

Finally, I suggest that Bowser get his own spinoff, where he leads his Koopa Kingdom against the same new villain created for the Mario games. Only it would be a darker, violent, badass action game that is the antithesis of the Mario games, and not comical like the Wario games. Something that older, action-game-loving people could enjoy. Shigeru Miyamoto may hate violence in games, but there must be someone at Nintendo that can adapt the upcoming Wii U to a more possibly M-Rated game like this. I think it's important to give Bowser a total badass edge to be a potentially M-Rated game, even having become a permanent ally. We could even have enemies that can shoot up towards the giant Bowser and hurt his health points.

These ideas would never be valid unless Nintendo accepts them, as it's their decision. I just think it would be better. The Galaxy games may be huge hits, but I think if they keep making the good guys weaker than they should be (games should have a challenge, but this isn't worth it), it's going to be bad news.

[up] No.

That being said, I'd like a game starring Bowser myself. In my opinion: Bowser's Inside Story proves that he can be a villain even if he stars as the protagonist or hero, and it feels more like it's Bowser's story anyways, not Mario's and Luigi's.

Anyone hoping for any Mario trophies in the next Smash Bros. that didn't appear in the other three? (NOT fighters, just trophies, as in Trophy Gallery)

I'm hoping for Peasley and Broque.

It's just opinions. They're not meant for the articles. If Nintendo doesn't approve of them, it's alright because it's their decision. Plus, in my opinion, Bowser getting his own spinoff games would at least be better than Luigi's Mansion and Super Princess Peach. In the end, though, it's Nintendo's decision. They might reject it, but that's okay.

Yes, this will seem like Complaining About Games I Don't Play, dismissed as trolling, and promptly deleted, but I just want to vent. Okay, first up: Mario.

  • First point: The Mushroom Kingdom is a Sugar Bowl compared to anything resembling the real world. I know, games shouldn't try to look real, right? Wrong. I want to be able to feel like this place might just exist, and in making the Mushroom Kingdom such a Sickeningly Sweet place, Nintendo has alienated me from the series.

  • Second, the characters. There's barely any characterization at all. Bowser's the villain, Peach is the princess that needs rescued, and the Mario brothers are the dudes who do the rescuing. Beyond that, there's nothing at all to tell you why you should do anything.

So what do I propose? Replace the Mario brothers. The next time Bowser kidnaps Peach, the brothers will gladly go in to rescue her, but this time King Koopa ain't messin' around. He kills the two guys when they enter his throne room. However, needing heroes, a new portal to the kingdom opens. This time, two mafia hitmen emerge, Mario and Luigi Corleone(yeah, I know, I just pulled that name straight from The Godfather, but it's all I could think of for American-Italians mafiosi. Sorry.). Their cover is that their family business is plumbing, but these two guys are here to kill people. They've got Tommy guns, Browning Automatic Rifles and Colt M1911s. They hear of the kidnapped princess and decide to take on the job just for the cash. They kill their way through the Koopa hordes. Bowser is killed when a .30-06 round goes through his left eye. Peach is rescued, but neither of them get any romantic vibe. For these two, it's "Strictly business."
