Super Mario 3D World. I've never been so simultaniously dissapointed and interested in a Mario game before.
I'm dissapointed because this game doesn't seem to have the same sense of "grandeur" as previous main console Mario games like the Galaxy series had. It just seems like "oh, yep, here's some Mario." There's no real spectactle, or anything that really dazzles me. There's just less "wow" factor here.
Yet, at the same time, I'm interested because it has 4 player co-op, which is a first in a 3D Mario game, and with Peach being one of those playable characters(YES), Nintendo can't use the old "Bowser has kidnapped Princesss Peach, go save her" story. That means they're going to have to come up with something new, so it'll be nice to see what they come up with. And I have to wonder what's up with those green stars.
So yeah. Mixed feelings overall. I'm warming it up to it though, qnd I'm sure it'll still be a great game though, as I did enjoy 3D Land.

I've heard some people Sunshine was less "open" than 64, and I've heard others say 64 is more about the "A to B" than Sunshine is. Which is it? Or could it be both? :V I played both a lot, but IDK.
Sunshine has wider and more open levels in terms of the actual stage design, but restricts the order you can get Shine Sprites in. Super Mario 64 let you get the stars in any order for the most part.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! In Sunshine the levels are larger, but only in design. You can go to any level that's open at the time, but you still have to do all the missions in order.
In 64 the levels are smaller, but you can do the stars in any order you want to. You can go to and complete any level that's open, but here all of the stars are more straightforward and less out there.
In 64 you can complete the game without completing all of the levels(secret stars included), in Sunshine you have to complete all of the levels but not the Bonus shine sprite only levels.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.So, I finally got New Super Luigi U, and I must say I am impressed. More impressed with it then NSMBU. I think what the NSMB series needs is more difficulty, and NSLU delivers on that. Plus, I love playing as Nabbit, even if he can't get super powers.
Now I'm just plain disappointed with 3D World. I still don't want the 3D Mario platformers to be point A to B, I want it to be explorable.
Though if the game turns out to have alternate paths and exits, then, I'll be excited.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. That's a lot harder to do with multiple players at one time.
Rarely does a fully explorable 3D world work out outside of a single player.
Because it's too easy to screw up other people or go into a world somebody else doesn't. The processing power required is huge.
So no, it wouldn't make sense for 3D World to be nonlinear like you want.
I'd wait for them to make a single player one again.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.But New Super Mario Bros U is really difficult to me. ;~; Much more than any of the earlier games ever were.

I've found that series pretty hard too thus far. Albeit, only the first game I've fully played, so I can't say anything for the rest as of yet.
The older games I had some trouble with too, but I can beat most of 3, I've beaten everything in 1 but the timed mission in World 8, and I've beaten 2 before. I've beaten 64(but only got all Stars with a Gameshark). I haven't beaten 64 DS yet. I've beaten most Mario Parties, Karts, but I only keep the GBC/N64 Tennis/Golf games.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.The 1st NSMB game is really easy.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.NSBS(the original) is mostly easy, but I've had a lot of trouble unlocking everything. As in getting each world. For some reason, the Blue Shell won't allow me to finish off the boss I need to get to one of the worlds.
The 1st SMB game isn't very hard, but it does have some difficult moments. The 8th World has a level with a heavy time limit, and it's the only one I can't pass yet.(note, I don't mean beating every level when I saw I can beat most of the game, I mean with shortcuts)
I am admittably a pretty sucky gamer, mind you. I agree neither are overly hard games. Getting through every area and collecting everything is a bit of a challenge for some(or hard for possibly the minority).

...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol. Also, it appears that you can save anytime now, rather than having to walk all the way to a save block.

So what will be the token Fantastic Voyage of this game, since every game has had one of progressively larger magnitude? Dreams don't count.
The entire world is actually inside Bowser again, it's just the walls of his stomach are sky blue now so it looks like the sky.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I got to say, I'm not looking forward to Super Mario 3D World, and I'm disappointed with what I've seen so far. It looks incredibly bland, and just looks like it's gonna play like an HD 3D Land, which by the way, was one of the most boring Mario games I've ever played! Also seriously, a cat suit? That's like one of the more stupid ideas for a power up. And from what I've seen from the marketing so far, it looks like they're trying to push that thing like they did the Tanooki Suit. Like Yahtzee said, Nintendo's pretty much homogenizing Mario at this point. A lot of the more recent games are just blurring together and are starting to look the same. Also, no online multiplayer still? Come on Nintendo. Nintendo's just playing it way too safe for this one, this game is pretty much safe, nothing really risky or anything like that.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but Mario Kart 8 is looking a lot better than the 3D Mario game. (There's a sentence I'd never thought I'd say.) I'm honestly looking forward to that more than 3D World, anyone else feel the same?

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!I'm almost certain that you or someone else posted that exact same post already.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Well this was my first time saying something like that about 3D World, so it must've been someone else, or you're just imagining things.
Also, I hated both Super and Sticker Star. Super had pretty sharp writing, but the story was just absolute garbage! Sticker Star didn't even try to make a better story. It just didn't try at all. And there's the whole mess of gameplay problems they have.

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more! But most platformer games aren't really known for the story. Most people care about is the gameplay.

""I'll be back in 20XX!""... Sticker Star is an RPG. RPGs generally have stories. Super's the platformer, and it still had a story.

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!...The cat suit is dumb? Have you no soul?! D:
As Josh and Chugga said in that interview last page, they were disappointed in it until they actually played it.
Of course, nothing I've seen makes me think I'll dislike it. Then again, I'm an eternal optimist.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau Projectx5 Maybe...maybe I can see the future.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.3D World looks interesting. I wasn't that crazy about 3D Land, but it was enjoyable to me.
Really, I'm just happy we're getting console games at all. My Wii U library is way too small.
They could stand to heterogenize their Mario games a little more, though.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Gonna go as Cat Luigi all day erryday!
Given Luigi's higher jumps, getting up walls to high places should be okay.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!Tanooki Suit, Frog Suit, Penguin Suit, Flying Squirrel, and now a Cat Suit. And maybe the Blue Shell counts in a way.
Hee, our favorite portly plumber sure has a penchant for wearing cuddly animal getups.
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your grief
It IS DLC. And retail, but also DLC.
Anyway, yesterday I did the first four worlds and the Soda Jungle Airship stage. I don't know if I'll be around to play much today, though.
I've gotten most of the Star Coins as I go, but have yet to find the secret exits. I notice NSMBU in general has much fewer secret exits than previous games, but they are much larger shortcuts to compensate.
