It is? I went through it straight through.
Yeah, my issue is mostly the interior missions. While they are fun, the fact that you lack any means of reinforcements unless scripted means that you cannot afford losses, and on some of the longer or more difficult ones that may end up requiring some trial and error. Hence why saving midway or at the goddamn bat moments is a very wise idea for those types.
Finished Omega! I was scared to start it, but it actually turned out not to be all that hard. Not significantly harder than level 8, and, I would say, easier than the toughest levels of WarCraft 2 and Total Annihilation (counting their expansions).

Join my forum game!Level 8 of which campaign? Oh, and who'd you attack first? Did you go with our advice or just go with the flow of the fight?
I can't imagine there's an easy mode on Starcraft 1? Couldn't get through the final Terran mission in the base game because of Alpha Squadron spamming Ghosts, Lockdowns, Nukes, and Siege Tanks.
I don't recall the last original terran mission being particularly hard. But then, it was a few years ago that I played it, so I don't really remember it much at all. At any rate, there are definitely harder levels in the original protoss campaign and sprinkled throughout BroodWar.

Join my forum game!I remember I struggled a lot with mission 8. 10 was easy in comparison.
Well this is unexpected.
You Can Now Get StarCraft For Free
I wonder if there's a catch you have to download the Battle.net /Blizzard App first before you can download it?
That's not much of a catch, really.
but HOW?- takes up space on your drive
- requires internet access just to activate I imagine, and even if it doesn't, you'd still need to log in, which is kind of pain on Steam
- if there's any issues with the Steam/Blizzard launcher then sucks for you're not playing it
- hopefully the Battlenet/Blizzard app doesn't force updates before you can play the game - it's old Starcraft, but what if they feel like adding some kind of achievement system, or patching some rare glitch in the older version
Other then that, yay, free Starcraft. Does it include Brood War?
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Uhh get with the times... it isn't 1995 anymore.
I was going to say "what if the catch is that it doesn't work on Windows 10 without major compatibility work on the user's part?" Granted, if they're putting this out now, they had better have done the work themselves.
All blizz games work on 10, they recently patched both SC and WCIII to fix issues like that. Yes they are still supporting 15 year old games..

Alright, let's see what's so good about these other two games, then...
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.I've never had a bad opinion about Blizzard. Glad to see they are worthy of respect.
I loved SC 1 as a kid, though I mostly playe skirmishes with cheat codes. I mained Protoss back then.
Last year I downloaded it again. Now I main Terran with M&M plus tank combo.
Where there's life, there's hope.If it's launcher-only, does that mean mod support is gone?
Because if I can't play Gundam Century on it, I ain't downloading it. Simple as that.
It shouldn't be, none of blizz's games actually require the launcher to launch Wo W, SC 2, Hearthstone etc.
Even WC III and Diablo II, Blizz's website will give you the CD key, which is available to be viewed in your account info, and the installer which adds it to the B Net launcher as a classic game.
The launcher is just a big shortcut hub like steam.

What might be a problem for mods is that this is a brand new version so some of them might need updating.

This song needs more love.So you don't need to launch the Blizzard App or be online to play the game and you can just make a direct shortcut to start the game?

Nope, just tested it myself. You need a blizzard account though to download the game and register on battle.net classic to play multiplayer.
Just gotta go here https://us.battle.net/shop/en/product/starcraft

It's basically one of the older maps with the campaign initials of the candidate spelled out in mineral resources at the center of the map. Pretty much just a publicity gimmick.
Yup. That was me.
(2) Interesting. I made one so I could download the SCII Demo... guess I might as well use it again for this.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Well SC 2 right now is basically free outside the campaign, you can actually play the original campaign with it with the mod mass recall, there is even a mod to make it look like SC 1.
You can even play a cut mission from the Terran campaign with it.
I for one cant stand the way SC 1 looks nowadays so I just play that one lol.

Oh screw that! Some missions in this game were practically built around the idea of having a save file or two handy in the event you lose one too many troops or a medic. That Brood War Terran mission where you have to kill Stukov in the Psi Disruptor facility and then shut down the reactor before it detonates is a prime example.
