This title has brought 112 people to the wiki from non-search engine links since 20th FEB '09.
In any event, dictionary.com does not give any results for doppleganger and I would rather not use an incorrect spelling on the wiki.
"irhgT nm0w tehre might b ea lotof th1nmgs i dont udarstannd, ubt oim ujst goinjg to keepfollowing this pazth i belieove iN !!!!!1 dYes, unless someone can demonstrate that "doppleganger" is an acceptable English spelling, there's no reason we shouldn't correct the spelling on this one.
^ Google scores "Doppleganger" at just over 4 million, compared to just over two million for "Doppelganger".
Now to make things even more interesting, restricting to "Doppleganger -doppelganger" scores about 2 million (half the previous amount), while "Doppelganger -doppleganger" scores about 5 million (twice as much).
Merriam-Webster doesn't have an entry for it, but Wiktionary does.
Yeah, I would say it's common enough that we need to keep both spellings.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.And wiktionary sez:
1. Common misspelling of doppelganger.
The only thing worse than Gratuitous German is mangled German (gratuitous or not). Should be fixed as soon as possible.
And the correct term is a fucking redirect. What the hell?

People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.Take google's result counts with a grain of salt. They're almost never accurate estimates.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyRedirect swap time, then. Current title is a typo, albeit a common one.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyI don't think we should swap redirects here. "Doppleganger" is wrong, plainly wrong. That it's a often-made mistake doesn't make it better (quite the opposite). We shouldn't support it by making it a redirect. It would be completely unnecessary anyway. If someone searches for "Doppleganger", the search will show the correct "Doppelganger". Google is flexible enough.
People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.I was about to cite inbounds as a reason to keep it as a redirect, but...112 people total? That means that there's probably 1 link out there somewhere, tops. Yeah, the current title should probably just be cut before it gets more.

Infinite Tree: an experimental storyCut the misspelled one.
Alright, I'm doing this.
As noted on the discussion page, the correct spelling is "doppelganger" (or, if you want to be pedantic, "doppelgänger").
