Looks like it covers plenty of eras, nice. Perhaps its time to bring the old Executioner out of retirement.

That got canned because they used the Warhammer; one of around a dozen Mechs that are still banned from being shown visually in media because Harmony Gold screwed FASA over hard.

It turns out that Humongous Mecha feel good, therefore the existence of Battle Tech and the like. But even better than just one Humongous Mecha is squad-sized battles, and sometimes even company-sized battles. With combined arms.
Of course, this all takes a while to resolve on the tabletop if you're not familiar with the rules, therefore the existence of many games, and this forum thread.
And now work is being done to allow for a full campaign of BattleTech using nearly all of the rulebooks in existence. Maybe one day, even the roleplaying game will be fully integrated into this project.
Also, in the absence of a new MechWarrior game, some dedicated fans have taken matters into their own hands. And the results are totally playable.
It is also a good thing that MechCommander 2 was open-sourced, as this project now exists too.
