This clearly is a gateway to something, but from the looks of it I wouldn't say it's the past.

...I can't tell which one is supposed to be the present and which is the past.

Does it matter? So long as they are different.

[up] Probably not.

Why should the current one be replaced, then?

I like Troacctid's suggestion. While it's not clear which one is past and which one is present, it's very obvious that they are the same place in different times. Thus, better than the current image.

This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.

[up][up] Coz it doesn't look like a portal at all. Let alone one to the past

[up] Bingo. A funky tunnel entrance, possibly, but not any kind of obvious time portal.

It looked like a monster sticking out of the ground to me. I like Troacctid's picture.

Bump...anyone else like Troacctid's pic over the current?

The proposal is better, but I don't think it's particularly good.

That's Atomos in the current picture, right?

But yeah, the current picture isn't good.

I have a message from another time...

The Guardian Of Forever... from Star Trek Online.

Please note that I suggest these images even though a little prior knowledge of the series might be required.

The first and 2nd screenshots show my character standing in front of the Guardian while an image of the Terran Empire landing on the Moon is displayed. (The mission in the game ended up taking us not only back in time, but into the Mirror Universe as well.)

The 4th screenshot shows my entire away team (which should indicated that they're in the present) standing before the Guardian, while a greyed out image from Star Trek Generations is visible in the portal, indicating an event that happened in the past.

I would think that a greyed out image of the approaching Nexus scene from that movie would indicate that it took place in the past.

I disagree. The image is blurry and indistinct, and not in strong enough contrast with its surroundings.

I like all four of those, but I'd lean toward the first two just for the moon landing.

Girl Genius has one scene where in one panel, both past and future versions of Agatha & co are shown and yes, there's a portal of some kind. If only I could remember where it was.

Motion to pull

Even if we don't agree right now on a replacement, the current one isn't indicative of a time portal at all.
